DHEA

Hi,

I’m sure this has been discussed loads before, but I have just started taking DHEA in prep for my 3rd fresh IVF round in the new year!

Has anyone had any success?

Any side effects?

I feel like Iv lost my appetite, but I don’t know if that’s the DHEA 🙈

Iv previously been a poor responder (1 embryo on the first round, 2 early blasts on day 5 on the second round)

I’m hoping DHEA and changing to short protocol might help 🤞

Any advise or experience would be great x

I'm currently on my 3rd month of DHEA in preparation for round 3 too in January!!! Not had any noticeble side effects to be honest & don't know the outcome yet!! I'm also not a great responder - 3 eggs cycle 1 & 1 egg cycle 2.

Here's hoping DHEA works for both of us!! x

My consultant said that there isn’t any proof that it makes significant differences. But he said it wouldn’t hurt! I’m willing to give anything a go!

Have you done long protocols? Im keen to see what will happen when changing to a short protocol in jan x

We were supposed to do long protocol both times but ended up on short protocol round 1 because AF arrived sooner than expected!! Round 2 was long protocol and we got 1 egg which unfortunately didn't fertilise!! So, no idea how this is going to work!!

No, apparently I'm doing the long protocol!! Still undecided but will give it a try x

I'm on 3rd month of DHEA in advance of my 2nd ivf in December. My clinic have said that DHEA results peak at 4-5 months so I am taking for 4. I was also advised to take COQ10 as well.

I had 19 eggs recovered last time but results were poor which is why they have suggested I take it.

Good luck!

I bought some to take for next cycle after poor response/poor fertilization with first round. I had recent consultation with private clinic and dr said there wasn't enough evidence to say it worked and that there was also increased chance of ovarian cysts taking it so advised against it. I really wanted to take it but this made me worry and also hubby said he didn't want me taking it if it could harm me. I'm going to see how next cycle goes and then if that's crap too, I might revisit. I the meantime I've bought what I think is better quality coq10 then I was taking and I'm going to up the dose on that. I've heard lots of positive stories though. I'm going to get second opinion for another se too if I get the chance. All the info is a minefield xxx

I was a bit worried about DHEA aswell because I was previously ‘diagnosed’ with pcos- which apparently means I shouldn’t take it. But the clinic don’t actually think I have pcos! All very confusing. I’m going to take it and see what happens. After 2 very unsuccessful rounds I’m willing to try anything.

What is coq10? X

Here's a link about it. natural-fertility-info.com/... I first read about it in the book it starts with the egg. It's supposed to help with egg quality. I took it for months before last cycle but I only got 6 eggs and just two fertilised and weren't the best quality. I have since figured out that I wasn't taking the best kind. I've read that taking it in soft gel form is best and that you want the ubiquinol version as it's easier to absorb. It might be worth a try x
