After 2 failed ICSI cycles we had a consultation with another clinic today who have today suggested use of pergoveris or meriofort for next cycle to inc number of eggs. Been on ovaleap so far.
Produced 5 eggs cycle one and 7 eggs cycle two.
AMH 10, I'm 38. We have known male factor and using surgically extracted sperm.
Anyone switched from ovaleap to either of these drugs and had success?

I haven't tried those drugs personally but I had multiple failed embryo transfers after undergoing ICSI/IVF. After 4 failed transfers with excellent/good quality embryos, I did Alice, Emma and ERA testing which showed I needed to take vaginal probiotics prior to transfer and that I needed extra progesterone. They also discovered that I have an autoimmune condition that needed treating prior to transfer. And we also did PGT-A testing.
My husband (who has a low sperm count and that's the reason we were referred) took a cocktail of supplements everyday in the months running up to treatment, took cold baths and wore specific underwear that has a cold pack in on evenings. His sperm count went from 1 million to 10 million.
After these changes we finally had success. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant.
Thank you for your help and congratulations! It was mentioned today to take vaginal probiotics but the ones suggested I can't find in stock. Which brand did you use?
We haven't had great quality embryos so know that's part of the equation and also know I need extra progesterone so that's in the plan for next round.
Hiya - I had this issue too so switched from Canesflor to Biocare’s Intrafresh (my clinic started to recommend them instead because of availability issues with Canesflor) xx
Hi what are the advantages of the vaginal probiotics please? I will try anything as we are now about to have attempt 8! No one has mentioned this. Thanks
Gynoflor is being used as an alternative to Caneston.. however its not over the counter and requires a prescription. OPtibac apparently is good also and can be used in addition
I had Meriofert. 10 eggs collected, 6 fertilised, 2 blast but none made it through pgta testing but then I am 41 and you have a good few years to go.Have they talked to you about dhea or ubiquinol?
I have immune issues and lining issues so had steroids and prp treatment before my successful transfer. This protocol didn't work with my very last embryo but I have one and count myself lucky. Good luck xx
I already take ubiquinol and have good diet so don't feel need dhea? But maybe could add it.I am asking for steroids and intra lipid for next round as have multiple autoimmune conditions. Just had amh and Thrombophillia screen repeated today.
I was on Ovaleap first 2 rounds and yielded a low number of eggs as well as immature eggs (7 eggs, 2 mature first round, 12 eggs 4 mature second round) switched to meriofert and got 18 eggs 16 mature on third round. Definitely worked for me in terms of egg numbers. I am same age and same amh. Good luck x
Wow that's a huge difference. Did you have all of those rounds in the same clinic? My first 2 were with a clinic and the suggestion for other meds has come from a different clinic. I feel I'd like to ask my current clinic if they think they'd be a good idea?
It was such a shock! I change clinics for my third round (rounds 1&2 were NHS) - we also lowered my dosage on meriofert and I stimmed for 12 days vs just 8/9 on Ovaleap (I was on a high dose). I think NHS use Ovaleap as meriofert is more expensive, the clinic that used meriofert was privately funded. I’d definitely use meriofert again!
We have had 2 cycles with clinic via NHS and deciding if we stay with them or not for next cycle. They've suggested gonal-F instead of ovaleap for next cycle. She did explain ovaleap is nhs standard
I don't have a comparison round, but I was down regulated with Zoladex on 28th June, started on 17th July 300 Gonal F for 5 days then 300 Meriofert until egg collection 31st July. I had to take Fyremadel on the morning before my trigger Ovitrelle at night. Had 17 mature eggs out of 17 collected. I had about 8 AMH. Only 8 Follicles visible on baseline scan. I believe down regulation really helps with getting more eggs at the same size at the same time. Hope this helps. Best wishes x
This is my first IVF round so I don’t have a comparison but I had prostap for down regulation and then meriofert at 300 for 11 days. My AMH was 3.8, 6 months ago, age 37. I had 5 eggs at egg collection, 4 fertilised, 2 blastocysts (1 at day 5 and 1 at day 6). My understanding is meriofert was used due to my severe endometriosis and low AMH but I am not 100% sure!
I'm older (43) so perhaps incomparable but I wanted to say I didn't experience any crazy side effects on Pergoveris. AMH 2.2. I've only done one round so far.I was only taking 225 per injection so it was gentle which I liked, as I've typically reacted badly to all the contraceptive pills and am very clean living.
I produced 6 eggs, 5 good sized were retrieved, 4 fertilised and I produced 3 good day 6 blasts.
PGTA says all abnormal and the clinic wouldn't give me a any chance to try them, and emailed to say they had been "discarded". I'm switching clinics for the next round.
Pergoveris is among the most expensive. I paid £880 for three boxes.
I’m so sorry. I’m the same age as you and my egg quality was really good until the age of 41. When I had high fsh, everything changed even doing oestrogen priming. I would say I was on 225iu fostimon and 225iu meriofert and that was needed for extra follicles. Zomacton is also good to boost more follicles but not all clinics use it.
A clinic in north Cyprus who I spoke with this week mentioned growth hormone, and I've seen Zomacton used by other older women. So did this approach work for you?
It did in terms of getting more blastocysts but my husband’s morphology was better and I was 40. I did have a missed miscarriage last year and I’m preparing for a transfer this year. I didn’t PGS test then as we never used to get many blastocysts.
Have you done the long protocol? Being under 40, it might be good. Meriofert is good. They say pergoveris is good for diminished ovarian reserve and older women but you are not that old and your amh is still good. You might want to check your fsh as long protocol turns off hormones so all follicles grow at same length. It’s like oestrogen priming but it’s more effective for people under 40.
Similar to us- low AMH but high FSH. Low sperm count. Used meriofert for first 2 NHS rounds- 8 eggs collected, 7 fertilised, no blasts in first round. 11 eggs, 4 fertilised, one fresh transfer and one frozen, got to 5 weeks pregnant with frozen one. Third round went private, used pergoveris and sperm donor this time- 7 eggs, 6 fertilised, 2 blasts both transferred and one gave us our gorgeous daughter. 💖
It could be using donor that’s worked for us this time or the different meds, who knows, but my experience of pergoveris was really good- short protocol just one week of injections and the needle is all in one so easy to use. Only down side is very expensive. Think it was 500 quid per vial.
Best of luck with whichever you choose- sending lots of baby dust ✨ xxx
I used bemfola for 2 rounds and never got any make it blasts. I then switched clinics and used meriofert. Less eggs were collected but I got 4 blasts!! 1 of them resulted in my 9 week old baby boy. Xx
