I found out I was pregnant two days ago ( complete surprise ) , I have 35-40 day cycles , so I’d be around 4.5-5 weeks , been having all the symptoms under the sun.
I been having light pink bleeding , so I went to early pregnancy today and had a scan , they couldn’t see the pregnancy so thought it could be to early to see.
They done a pregnancy test which came out dark positive within two minutes and the nurse reassuringly said oh that’s very positive I’m sure you’re just very early!
They done bloods - my HCG was 201 , but my progesterone we only 2! 😔 they told me I’ve already had a miscarriage or I’m likely to very shortly.
I haven’t had any heavy bleeding so I’m presuming it’s yet to come.
They’ve told me that in my next pregnancy as soon as I’m pregnant I should contact my GP for progesterone medication , this isn’t my first loss , I’ve had one missed miscarriage and a chemical.
I’m 31 and just so worried time is running out for me.
I’ve had low progesterone in various bloods before pregnant or non pregnant. I just feel strange as all my symptoms are still here and my pregnancy tests just keep getting darker
Feeling quite sad x

I agree sounds like you need it on board before you actually conceive
Can you afford to see a fertility specialist privately just to get a prescription to see you through to 6 weeks before your gp can prescribe
I’m so sorry you’re feeling sad. I guess it’s not over till it’s over,
You said you’ve Had one miscarriage and a chemical so see if you’re GP can refer you to a recurrent miscarriage clinic for genetic testing and they’re likely to recommend meds to your gp and then your gp can prescribe it to you, I feel gps don’t want to prescribe until they’ve had a letter from higher up (almost a bit like defensive medicine to say they can blame the recurrent miscarriage consultant)
Hope This helps and sending you lots of baby dust xx
Thanks so much for your reply , I’ve since spoken to my GP and they’ve referred me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic , and like you say won’t prescribe me progesterone unless it comes from higher up!
I’ve also spoke to Early pregnancy as I had some concerns about the way they handled my case , and the head of nursing also suggested I be referred for testing and miscarriage clinic. I’m going to push to start it before I can conceive ❤️ X
Hi Amy. Only just read this post. My feelings are that in view of your history, it seems insensitive to make you wait until you are 6 weeks before prescribing progesterone. Obviously, I do hope all continues as it should. Diane
Thank you for your response , I’ve since been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic.
I also spoke to the head of nursing for Gynae and EPAU today as I had some concerns over my care with them, and she is in agreement that if nothing is found for the cause of miscarriage then I should be given progesterone prior to pregnancy and fortnightly scans in the first trimester x
so sorry. I have recurring miscarriages ( one late loss too) before having our youngest daughter. My area wouldn't refer us to recurring miscarriage clinic till we had 3 losses in a row ( the chemical before our first daughter didn't count) other areas will refer after 2 and I believe tommys will just require GP referral take you after 2. We got no answers as we didn't with our second daughters post mortem. If it makes you feel better I bled with my live children and all was okay! And quite heavily too. I guess you won't know what is happening till you are scanned. Must be a very worrying time for you especially with previous miscarriages 😢 I was given progesterone and steroids with both Francesca and Eliza which I think made the difference ( wasn't allowed steroids with covid) could your clinic or GP not offer more progesterone? As for time 31 is still young! I was 40 having my youngest daughter Eliza! Midwives have always said unless cramping badly bleeding isn't such a worry and very common. I bled heavily with all 3 of my live my children and all are healthy and fine. Hope you are just one of those ladies who bleed in pregnancy but baby is fine 🥰 Xx
Thanks so much for your reply , and I’m so sorry for your losses.
I’ve spoken to my GP and I’ve been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic, which is a good step forward. I’m hoping once they’ve done their investigations they can start me on progesterone prior to my pregnancy.
I have been told by staff at the hospital im under that if someone has a history of recurrent pregnancy loss they offer fortnightly scans in the first trimester also which would be good.
I’ve definitely lost this baby as I’m bleeding heavy with clots and tissue etc 😔, I’m pleased the hear the rest of your pregnancies were successful x
