I’ve had 3 ivf pregnancies which have all ended in early miscarriage
I found out I had became pregnant naturally after 4 years of trying a week ago. 1-2 on clear blue and lines on FRER okay but no dye stealers
I’ll be 5 weeks now and I did another digital and it’s come back 1-2 so i think it’s over. I don’t have a blood test until Thursday 😞 earliest I could get with GP. I’ve had some pink bleeding when wiping but it’s stopped so I’m in limbo really.
anyone here been in same situation with recurrent miscarriage especially in early stage? When I found out I was pregnant I took progesterone that I had left but I ran out of lubion and started pessaries but know I don’t absorb these that well.
Can anyone recommend a miscarriage specialist clinic?
I’ve had quite a few investigations but not had NK cells tested so that will be my next step I think.
Anyone been able to get more progesterone from their GP?
Thanks for listening

are you local to London? If so, look at seeing Dame Lesley Regan. She is amazing! I saw her after recurrent miscarriages and it turns out I have a blood condition (which is fairly common so I don’t know why they don’t test for it as standard when going for fertility treatment!!). She said my chances of having a baby without being on aspirin and blood thinning injections were really slim. She also operated on my womb to maximise my chances. I’m now 22weeks pregnant and it’s thanks to her! Xx
I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. Could you get seen sooner at you nearest early pregnancy unit? I had 3 rounds of IVF resulting in an ectopic & a miscarriage followed by a natural pregnancy that also ended in miscarriage. I was then put I’m under the care of the recurrent miscarriage team at my local hospital (Manchester). They did initial tests & when I was lucky enough to get pregnant again naturally, they were able to prescribe cyclogest & low dose aspirin as well as offering early pregnancy scans. It might be worth checking with your GP/Early Pregnancy Unit to see if there’s something similar in your area? My baby boy is now 9 weeks old so miracles can happen xx
unfortunately I think I needed a GP referral to the early pregnancy unit. Was reluctant to give my private clinic a call as I’ve had problems with them. I’ve had so many tests done already nothing unusual 😞 xx
Everything was normal on my tests too but they give all ladies who’ve had recurrent miscarriage the cyclogest, low dose aspirin & high dose folic acid as standard so some extra help can’t hurt. It was also nice to have the extra emotional support of the specialist team. At my EPU you don’t need a referral if you’re bleeding in early pregnancy so could possibly be worth a try if you’re ever in need xx
Thanks for sharing your story Bluebellebunny, it’s really interesting. When you say low dose of aspirin, how much do you mean? I’ve had 4 miscarriages (one IVF the rest natural) and my clinic did mention that we could do this from the day we get a positive but they didn’t say how much yet. Also did you take yours from transfer or from the first day of your positive? Congrats on your little boy so nice to hear that positive things can come from so many negatives xx
No problem & I’m very sorry to hear you’ve also suffered multiple miscarriages. It’s so heartbreaking. The low dose aspirin was the 75mg tablets & I took 2 a day so 150mg. These were only started after my 7 week viability scan though. The high dose folic acid & cyclogest was from first day of a positive (this pregnancy was natural by some miracle & with only one tube after ectopic surgery!) Definitely keep the faith & things can definitely turn around even after all the dark storms we go through xx
ah so interesting! Some people say to take it at 6 weeks, some from a positive. So far my clinic is saying from a positive which I’ll stick to as I’m in their care, I also worry that I’ve normally lost the baby by 6 weeks (usually by 5 it’s over) so maybe that makes a difference with what my clinic said. Did the extra testing ever find anything? Or did you get pregnant before you did the tests in the end? Xx
Yeah, I can’t see any harm in starting from a positive so best to take their recommendation. The tests didn’t find anything… all my results were normal. I think you almost want to find a reason at that stage but thankfully we still got there in the end, even with my husband having almost 0 morphology too! xx
Yeah all I want is answers when realistically there might not be any, like you! But you did it in the end🌈 Thanks for replying, it's much appreciated xx
hello, sorry to hear everything you are going through at the moment. I also think that you can self refer to the EPU, just tick in the form that you had a previous miscarriage.
I have also been through Regan and she was very helpful to prescribe me Clexane 40mg for my not so serious blood cloth condition but she still said I could potentially benefit.
I would however if I was at your place, I would go to Shehata. They test NK cells and may give you additional treatment. I am on Prednisolone 25mg but my clinic didn’t suggest any intralipids for which I am considering to go to Shehata too.
Good luck 🍀
So sorry for your losses. Those Clearblue weeks aren't always 100% accurate so I would check again in a few days. Pink spotting is also super common about that stage too.
Have you had your uterus looked at? I know they do things like HSGs to check tubes pre IVF but when I had had multiple miscarriages whilst they did all the normal blood tests etc they also did an MRI and a 3D saline scan to fully check the lining and shape of the womb, they also threw in a hysteroscopy as well whilst they were at it. It found a load of abnormalities with my womb that could prevent implantation and cause miscarriages.
I had a load of chemicals and early miscarriages both IVF and natural (6 in total) and the further I got to was 9+5. I was told it was likely chromosomal/egg quality at that stage but I seem to remember you had had your embryos tested? x
I'm so sorry for your losses 😢 I experienced recurring losses after our first daughter arrived ( after a 7 year struggle) I lost a baby at 20 weeks, then another chemical ( had one before our first daughter) another loss at 6/7 weeks then I was referred to miscarriage specialist who like our daughter who died at 20 weeks pregnant no cause was found, but did agree to steroids as i had higher NK cells and I had had steroids with our first daughter with I had with the next pregnancy which resulted in my now 11 month old daughter. A healthy baby after recurring losses is totally possible. Hood it's just a duff test and all is ok Xx
Agree you can call EPU with bleeding and they’ll see you without GP referral. I’ve done this in London.
I’ve had four losses (1 IVF, 3 natural), all before 6 weeks. After the first two they realised i needed a tube removed. The second two we don’t know. I pushed for a referral to the tommys recurrent miscarriage clinic - your GP can refer you, you’ll be eligible. They do lots of other testing and if you get pregnant they support you through the first trimester. I’m currently 20 weeks with my fifth pregnancy and have never made it this far before. I was on progesterone until 16 weeks, and am still on aspirin. Whilst I’m not at the finish line yet i never thought i could get this far and wanted to share that it’s possible - even with recurrent pre-6 week loss xx
I just want to say it like everything else in NHS varies via CCGs. In my CCG you have to have a GP to refer you to EPU for any bleeding.
I agree about miscarriage clinics. The miscarriage specialist really supported me in my pregnancy after my recurring losses- I had 2 extra scans even in a natural pregnancy @ 7 and 9 weeks which was helpful with my anxiety( tho it never went until my daughter was born ) Xx
