Post-Miscarriage Tests?

Hey all, following ‘unexplained infertility’ and now FET I am 6 weeks pregnant. As per 3 times in the past at this stage (with natural pregnancies) I’m getting slight cramps and kind of pre-empting a miscarriage. Three times before I’ve got to 9 weeks and then miscarried but the pregnancy looked more like 5/6 weeks on scan. I seem to not be able to stay pregnant.

If that does happen again, does anyone have any knowledge of tests available, anything I could ask for and at what stage? I’ve never been offered anything before, just had a D&C or miscarried at home and that’s that. Surely there’s a reason why it happens?!?!

Any advice would be really appreciated.

HIi. Can you be referred to a recurrent miscarriage. Also, if not done so, see about getting your Fallen Tubes checked for blockage, in case surplus lubrication leaks into womb preventing embryos implanting. Perhaps a hysteroscopy to check womb out. Good luck. Diane

hi lovely, I hope it all turns well in the end for you , there’s quite a lot of movement and reshuffling happening inside hopefully that’s what’s causing the cramps. If the worst happens the NHS offers tests after 3 MC, they can refer you to Tommy’s as well, depending where you live there are different clinics. There’s also the Warwick implantation clinic that you can self refer to, they are a research clinic partly funded by Tommy’s. Wishing you all the best of luck , I do hope this one works for you xx

I’m so sorry you are going through this, are you being kept on progesterone up to 12 weeks?

I had 5 miscarriages (natural conception) all around the 5-8 week mark and one blighted ovum. Then went to the recurrent miscarriage clinic which tested for various issues including uterine nk cells all came back normal. Then we started ivf and did sperm dna fragmentation test which showed high dna fragmentation so husband went on a high antioxidant supplement called menevit for 3 months and changed his diet. I had a blood test for PAI-1 which showed I have defective copy of gene and has been linked to miscarriage. Treatment is blood thinners (inhixa) as part of cycle. We then did egg collection etc and got 9 embryos which we pgta tested and 5 came back normal. First FET didn’t implant so we did immune tests which showed big TH1/TH2 imbalance so added prednisolone and intralipids and 2nd FET worked! Cramps can be totally normal but I totally understand your worry - the only thing that helped me was doing blood hcg tests and loads of private scans! My first successful pregnancy I had implantation bleeding then the second (current pregnancy) I had cramps and bleeding on and off to 8 weeks but all was ok and no obvious reason! Good luck xx
