Start injections tomorrow ...any tips?

So, tomorrow morning I start my buserelin injections. I've done the training and I'm not too nervous about actually sticking the needle in (never thought I'd say that!), but just worried about getting it wrong. Does anyone have any advice?

Many thanks.

Hi

I'm on day  22 of injections now and I've found doing them quite easy. Pick a time that your going to do them I've found I do mine at 7:30 every night once oh is home and just after tea.

Alternate sides every day and I've done them just below my belly button as that doesn't hurt, only 2 times have I gone further to the left and they hurt and bruised!

I count to 20 as I slowly release the fluid and don't rush pushing it in. I've not had any lumps or bleeding.

Good luck you will soon get the hang of it.

Thanks Holly.

Counting to twenty is a top tip - I'll do that! I've been told to do mine in the top of my leg and also in the morning as, when I start the menopur, I should do that in the evening and in the other leg.

Good luck to you too!

I can't give any advice on the injection as I am new to it too. Nice to know someone starting at the same time as I am. I have done the training as well and I am just waiting for my period (this week) so I can start. Good luck to us x

Hi me08,

Well, I did it! It was a bit stingy after, but OK once I built up the courage to just go for it. How did it go for you?

Oh good to hear it was okay for you. I am naturally scared of needles so I got DH to be involved in the training and he will be doing it for me once I start. Still waiting for AF to come :( I can't believe I just said that as I have prayed for it not to come for 4yrs now. I should start injecting this week.

I was so scared of needles only a year ago, but I've had so many stuck in me recently that I've got much, much better! The thought of it was much worse than actually doing it. I just took a deep breath and went for it. My DH came to the training too, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to relinquish the power over to someone else and, when I was sitting there this morning, bare leg and needle in hand, there was no way I was letting him get his big, clumsy hands on it! He sat next to me and reassured me that I was doing everything right though. You'll be fine - feel free to get in touch if you need any words of encouragement. Good luck!

Hahaha, I get the picture. I'll see how it goes when I start as I might end up taking the power from my DH....lol. If only AF will come today & I can start injecting away. I am now following you to see how you get on x

Good luck ladies! I hate needles and was dreading it but once you've done a few they become second nature! Definitely do not do it in exactly same place every time, so move around leg if you can, even an inch or 2 will make a difference. Gives where you did it a little break.

If I think of anything else I'll let you know!xx

Thanks Fingerscrossed4. I was  a bit shaky and I think that, once I got the needle in, I was so relieved that I started to inject it a bit too quickly, hence the stinging, but I regained my composure after a moment and did the whole counting to 20 thing as suggested by isitonlyadream and it was fine! Thanks for the advice, I will definitely move around the leg.

Hope everything goes well for you. X

Hi Ladies- thank you all for the great advice- I have just started injecting and the first time went really smoothly- someone said " like a knife through butter" and it was. If only I hadn't bent the first needle because I didn't take the cap off the bottle! And if I had concentrated more on not getting a massive air bubble so i had to start again!! So hopefully I know what I'm doing now!! Xxxx love to you all. This forum keeps me going.
