Are my symptoms endo or something else?

I've been on the pill since I was 13 when my periods started and I was bleeding for 2-3 weeks with only a 3-4 day gap. I was also in a lot of pain and had bowl problems running up to and after my periods. After a couple of months I was put on dianette as I was still in a lot of pain and the skin on my back, chest and face broke out in very large painful spots. I tried to come off the pill at 19, but the whole cycle started again. However, about 10 months ago I started to bleed through my pill and was crippled during my breaks. My new GP freaked out when she realised I'd been on dianette for 15 years when you are only supposed to be on it for 2. So she changed the pill and the whole thing started again.

I've been tested for eptopic pregnancies, ovarian cysts etc, with negative results, so now they think I have endometriosis. I've been taken off all hormones as they aren't working, anti-inflamatories do very little and I'm allergic to most of the prescription pain killers (they make me pass out for hours within 20 minutes). This means I can't work because I'm either doped beyond belief or in pain. So I've been put forward for a laparoscopy.

I'm nervous about this as I'm not good with hospitals and I'm not sure what is involved. Also I'm bloated for the week before and after my period, passing a lot of wind, either constipated or have diarrhoea (I know, too much information) and I have no energy, feel rotten and on the verge of tears all the time. When I bleed it not normal, if you get my meaning?

Are these symptoms similar to what other people on here have experienced?

It does sound like endo, but the only way to tell for sure is a lap. The Endo for Dummies book is really good with advice for pre-diagnosis.

I know it's scary but remember although it's not common for you, they do them all day every day. Also, if your pain is really bad like you describe the pain post-op will be manageable.

A lot of people manage their endo using the combined contraceptive pills and tri-cycling them. There is also mirena coil which is well rated.

Before you have your also ask if they will try and excise the endo. They could find that they can't treat it during the initial lap, but ask them if they can treat it to actually treat it.

Good luck x

Thank you! Sorry it's so late a reply. Life has been giving me a kicking. Thanks for your advice and support. Had my lap today and I am confirmed as an endo sufferer. Feel like a massive weight has been lifted off of my shoulders and I can start addressing it properly.

Thank you again x
