I attended a follow up appointment this morning which was booked straight after my lap in March. It was with the original team (let's call them Team A), as since then I was put under a different team for Laparoscopic Adhesiolysis after finding severe, dense, widespread adhesions. Team B refused to scan even though they said there may well be endo under the adhesions. Visiting Team A today I actually saw the consultant for the first time, she was a bit scary but I liked her and felt more comfortable under her care. She wants to put me back under her team, wants to scan me ASAP, wants to perform my hysteroscopy and sooner than July as scheduled with Team B. This was all very positive but she did suggest that I might not need the Adhesiolysis surgery, there may me more risks than benefits such as bowel or bladder perforation. She did also mention Laparoscopic Hysterectomy. But she wants me to have the Mirena fitted during my hysteroscopy to see if that helps first. That's the fourth time it's been suggested. I don't really know what to do regarding surgery now. Do I go ahead with the Adhesiolysis? Do I ask for a Hysterectomy? Do I really want the Mirena fitted? I've read so many stories of bad experiences with it.

Confused! Adhesiolysis or Hysterectomy or Mirena!
Hi
Sounds like the consultant is trying to be helpful 🙂
Is either team A or B BSGE? Supposedly the guidelines are if you have severe Endo you should get referred to BSGE specialist. If team B are I’m amazed they didn’t want to do a scan, although Endo isn’t easy to spot on scans. Did they find Endo at first op, take any biopsies?
Things like Mirena or Zoladex are a go to currently, more so than operating. It’s up to you if you want to try Mirena, some women find it successful, it’s not one I tried. I did Zoladex but it didn’t agree with me. Thought I’d give it a go as you don’t know until you try. A hysterectomy is a very major op and lots to consider, not just age, but will it make a difference. I’ve had adhesions removed several times in the last few years and a hysterectomy, there are no guarantees. I know someone who had a hysterectomy and the best thing they did.
