endo- advice wanted

hi all! Recently had an ultrasound and my ovary is attached to my uterus and scarring actually very visible on the scan. I’m waiting to see a specialist - I saw a gp tonight and that was a waste of time as he didn’t know why the appointment had been booked and why I hadn’t received anything for the gynaecologist. Feeling very anxious and worried about the above- is this dangerous? I have had my children- three pregnancies my last one a twin pregnancy and was a c section so he thinks the surgery could have led to this

Hi, I currently have suspected endo adhesions which has caused my ovary to be stuck to my uterus and both are stuck to my bowel. I don’t believe it’s particularly dangerous, can just be very painful although I don’t currently know if the ovary in question is working/damaged. I’ll be having a laparoscopy next week to unstick/remove endo x

Hi! Thanks for replying I’m sorry you are also going through this but I’m glad you are having this done to try and help/remove it. Let me know how you get on! Out of interest do you have any symptoms with yours? Aside from pain? I keep feeling tired and my body hair is more excessive then before and feel like it’s impossible to lose weight/tone up, despite changes and exercise x

I absolutely will let you know how I get on! I have a lot of issues to be fair, mostly with pain/bleeding but I have adenomyosis and cervix issues which contribute to those. I don’t struggle with weight loss more discipline. Are you on any hormonal contraception they can sometimes impact weight/hair I think. I do struggle with fatigue, no matter how healthy I’m being, I nap through the day now which was previously unheard of for me. It’s honestly wild how symptoms differ so drastically between each person x

I have endo and my MRI showed my ovary was adhered to my womb. The surgeon said there would be no issue detaching it and no impact to fertility. Although when he actually done my surgery, it wasn't attached to my womb, it was a big cyst growing inside my ovary that was pushing against my womb making it look like it was stuck

I have the same due to endometrial adhesions - never been pregnant. It depends whether it gives you symptoms, pain etc so the may decide removing it.

Hi Elisheva85, my ovaries were stuck to my pelvic side wall and one of my triggers for seeking help aside from painnwas that I was piling weight on despite going to the gym, eating well and walking sometimes up to 20,000 steps per day. I had my hormone levels checked and they found my testosterone was slightly up which inducated something was imbalancing my hormones. If hormones imbalanced your whole metabolism is out of whack so seems you might be in same boat. My body was also constantly swollen. I hope they can unstick your ovary soon horrible condition to be in. Mine was caused by endo rather than c section xx

Hey,

My ovary is also stuck to my uterus and I was initially horrified and the nhs consultant offered me surgery to remove all signs of the endo and to unstick it if I wanted to but since then I have discussed at length with a private consultant (also nhs at another hospital ) and his current advice is to not have surgery so I guess he doesn’t think it is that dangerous.

He explained that surgery is about management of symptoms so because it carries risk you have to weigh that up with whether the symptoms warrant the risk. As I understand pain isn’t always correlated with stage of endo so people can have stuck ovaries etc and not even know. If you can afford to pay to see an endometriosis consultant privately the peace of mind is honestly priceless and then you can ask the question directly but if not hopefully what I have shared is somewhat reassuring.

I’m fairly certain if it was dangerous he would be telling me I need to have the surgery.
