I guess this is just a rant for me to maintain sanity and clarity that im not the only one feeling crap with this condition.
I've avoided the "recommended treatment" of Decapeptyl injections (put you through early menopause), the IUD, the pill and of course the glamourous hysterectomy for as long as i could and now I’m using the Pill.
I'm on day 8 of taking the pill (Microgynon 30) and i already feel like I’m losing the plot. I'm also on day 8 of my period, which was abnormally heavy for the 1st 3 days (i.e having to change heavy duty sanitary towels every 2 hours). My periods whilst excruciatingly painful for the 1st 3 days usually last for 5 days, but 8 days in and im really struggling with intense fatigue.
I had previously tried taking the Microgynon 30 a few years ago and ended up bleeding for 20 days before giving up on the treatment. I'm worried this is going to happen again but im trying to give it the recommended 3 months trial period. I just hate that this is my life and i guess I’m just feeling extra sorry for myself today.
Have any of you had a similar experience with Microgynon or have any tips for fatigue?
Hope you are all having a pain free day xx

Hey! Sorry I can’t comment on the microgynon, other than to say it’s among the things I’ve tried in the past and couldn’t tolerate - due to effects on mood & headaches rather than heavy bleeding.
Also, the only thing I can really suggest for the fatigue is to try all sorts of remedies (provided they’re safe/not contra-indicated for you!) as there’s nothing to lose at this point. You deserve that extra bit of time/money/pampering or whatever it takes to help you cope with this debilitating disease.
I’m not the best example, as I’ve developed fibromyalgia as well. I take a good multivitamin for women plus extra vit D. I should be taking iron, but I can’t deal with the constipation, so I’ve tried to increase dietary iron instead.
Hopefully you will hit upon a combination of diet, supplements, exercise, rest, therapy, medication etc that will improve your energy levels, and decrease pain and bleeding.
I find dried apricots really help with constipation. I would say 5 to stay regular, a few more if more blocked. (Just beware as they are really yummy, so if you get carried away eating them you may not wish to leave the house the next day. ) x
Aww thanks for responding. Sorry to hear you developed Fibromyalgia. I’ve finally stoped bleeding atleast but I’m not sure if the fact I feel like I’m losing my mind is connected or not lol
Hello. Sorry to hear you're having a poorly time. I used to take microgynon when younger and was ok with it. I took it again after having my coil removed a couple of years ago, but had to stop due to experiencing migraines with aura. My endo specialist recommended cerazette (progestogen-only pill, no oestrogen). Took 3 months to settle in. Works great, no bleeding after a few moths, much reduced back pain. Doctor changed it to Zeletta a few months ago (as cheaper version), still works well.
When I used to get heavy periods (before taking pop), I would wear tena pants to bed, with night time sanitary pad in too, so at least I could sleep without fear of flooding.
