Cerazette - 4th month use

Hello everyone,

I'm on my 4th month and pack of Cerazette (POP) now. I've bleed since I started and have a very heavy horrible period (with severe pains too) every 10 days, which lasts 8 days approx.

I'm obviously fed up and I know it can take up to 4-6 months for your period to settle/stop, but also there is no guarantee that it will settle... So I asked my gyne to give me an alternative. I have 2 weeks left of my 4th pack. Do you reckon I should finish the pack and see if the period finally stops (although I know I'm going to get a period in 10 days as usual on this pill...), or just start with a different pill and see if that works. This heavy and constant bleeding has caused my endo to grow back and I'm in pain, so the pill is also not controlling the endo pain?!

The new pill is a combined pill and is called Loestrin 20.

What is your experience with Cerazette and did you bleed this much and every 10 days as I did in the first 4 months??

I appreciate all comments xxx

Oh I had a hell of a time on cerazette. I done 4.5 months on it and bled majority of the time. It was draining the life out of me and making me feel really anxious. I put it in the bin and stopped bleeding after 2 days stopping it. Gp has now given me femodette combined pill to take back to back for 3 months then one week break and so on....What a difference already. I started pill on first day of period and what a difference it has made already!!! No bleeding and I feel much more comfortable in my abdomen area. I usually get painful periods plus sore ovulation.

You know your body and how you're feeling. I just couldn't go on like that. It was horrible x

Hi JenBrown,

thanks for sharing! Yes it was the same with me on Cerazette. I had the worst 4 months of my life! :( and had no life. I've decided to start on Loestrin 20 last Saturday and it's been 5 days now and I feel great!! No bleeding yet.... I hope if I do get any period they will be light and short. I am also supposed to take this back to back. Not sure how long for though, need to check with my gyne.

Thanks again! I'm so glad you feel better on your new pill too. How long have you been on Femodette now?

x

I'm just finishing my first month and what a difference almost instantly!!! Cerazette was horrendous and really depressed me. I'm currently on holiday and I have managed to enjoy myself and actually feel good for the first time in a while!! Fingers crossed your new pill makes a difference for you I'm sure it will mrs. Some people are lucky on cerazette but i certainly wasn't xx

OH I'm so glad to hear! Likewise! I had the same horrendous experience. I feel like myself again on this pill so far... although it's only been a week.

Totally xx

I was the second as you on cerazette, a period lasting 10 days every 2 weeks, didn't get better even after giving it almost a year. Loestrin 20 I didn't find much better, I was fine on that for 3 months and then I bled brown blood every single day for a few more months til I caved and came off it!

Oh no Kate. I can't believe you've been suffering on Cerazette for a year... How did you do it for so long? You have all my sympathy. You are very patient.

Sorry to hear about the Loestrin 20 experience too. So, you still got a period on Loestrin even though you took it back to back? Not good... I hope that's not my case! Did you get any period at all in the first 3 months? xx

I've still had a period every month on everything I've taken for 4 years haha! Nothing I've found has ever stopped it, running back to back just made me feel miserable as it delayed my period but not the pain and all the other symptoms, so I found it dragged it out longer!

I know it's different for everyone and I truly hope it works wonders for you, I ended up coming off everything all together and letting things settle back down after 4 solid years of chopping and changing!

Gosh, poor you. I am normally unlucky with pills so it could as well happen to me that I bleed anyway. I've always bled on everything, so it might not be different on Loestrin either... Time will tell I guess. I'm only 6 days in... so I could get a period any day!

thanks xx

Yeah, time being the only way to tell is a real bummer, I feel like I missed out on so much by stressing and changing pills and expecting to be bleeding and I dont think I could ever go back to it haha!

Yeah, if this pill doesn't work either I think I'll leave it.. and won't bother with pills anymore. No point if they make my symptoms worse instead of better! I do have a bad right ovary cyst pain since three days now. Maybe I'm due a period already :( TERRIFIED! xx
