post surgery stitches

Hi all 👋 I’m about 4 weeks post op from my diagnostic laparoscopy and recovery seems to be going well so far but my stitches seem to be taking ages to dissolve!

I have the dissolvable stitches which apparently should have gone in a couple weeks but they are holding strong and don’t want to come away any time soon - my belly button stitches also seem to be struggling and I have had a small amount of bleeding from that one 🥲 is this normal, has anyone had experiences with dissolvable stitches and in particular any issues healing your belly button stitches?

Hi, I had my laparoscopy 5 weeks ago and still have the dissolvable stitches. They're annoying and get in the way. I've been told by my GP they could take months to go. Not happy. Mine haven't bled though. You could always see GP for reassurance.

hey!

Mine took a while to go, especially my belly button one. One day I just touched it gently and they fell off (sometimes they don’t actually dissolve away completely, they just drop off). If you’re worried then book in to the nurse at your GP surgery - that’s what I did, and they were so lovely and helped clean it and can look and see how it’s healing.

I still have some sections at 4 weeks. I had some bits sticking up and was told I could cut these so sterilised a nail scissors and nail clipper and cut them flush to the skin with my husband’s help. That’s made it much better as nothing catching.

I got mine removed by GP after 4 weeks as they didn’t dissolve x

Mine took forever to dissolve and I was worried about the belly button ones. Don't pick or prod. Leave them and they will eventually go x it took mine 10 weeks x
