stitches after lap hysterectomy

Hi I’m 5 1/2 weeks after a laparoscopic hysterectomy and my dissolvable stitches still haven’t dissolved. Has anyone else had this issue? I don’t have any follow up appointment so I’m wondering if I need to go to the gp to have them removed. Thanks

Hey, I’m four + weeks post lap and two of the three incisions I have still have the dissolvable stitches in. Mine look like they are stuck in scabbing so I have left them alone. Just keeping clean and patting dry. I went for suture removal of the additional incisions week after op and the nurse said if they’re stubborn you can get in the bath and try to loosen/dissolve them. Hope this helps xx

Hiya, I had a similar issue and went to the local walk in centre, they snipped them out. It was after about 6 weeks post op.

If they are irritating you or looking scabby get some further advice, but if they're not an issue, I'd let nature take its course, they will eventually dissolve.

mine didn’t dissolve after my laparoscopy and it introduced infection into the site - local walk in centre removed and treated the infection - I’d speak to somebody if I were you, then they can let you know what to do

If you know they're dissolvable then no need to do anything. Just as Tangoandmax said just keep clean and pat dry, they will literally just drop when ready. The stitches on one of my incisions took almost a month longer than I was told they'll take to dissolve and I was getting stressed about it, but it did eventually just come off by itself. I hope this helps.
