I just had surgery 16 days ago I didn’t think I’d be having a period for a while but I came on and I’m bleeding a lot, but it’s not going on the pad? It’s only when I wipe but it’s constant blood I can sit on the toilet and wipe 7 times and still have blood on the tissue.. worried as online it says 3-6 weeks more for period to happen. Has anyone had one so soon after laparoscopy? And advice on managing the pain?

Hi

Might be worth checking you don’t have a UTI, GP surgery can test.

You can get bleeding after surgery, I think after my first lap I had a little but then started Zoladex.

I bled for weeks after mine. Make sure you're not in pain other than the incisions and check the blood doesn't change colour (other than going brown) and that it's smell doesn't change. Try not to worry.

Hi I had my period come literally 2 weeks after my laproscopy, dead on time as well. I still bleed normally which is heavy anyway it was just alot more cramps. I was expecting a horrendous period the first one anyway. The 2nd one was worser for some reason I bleed for 8 days and was sick from the pain. I ended up getting a strap on heat pad off amazon which helped as well as the usual tablets, paracetamol and ibroprofen. I'm currently almost 9 weeks post Op. Xx

I am due my first laporoscopy in DEcember and have been told recovery is 2 weeks is this right? I will be having left centre and right incisions to remove cysts on both sides and I have not been able to work for a while but just got a part time work from home job but have to let them know when I can come back after surgery but really wondering what I should expect...

Was your period due soon after? My period was due 2 days after my laparoscopy and like a Swiss clock it came. I had a full “normal” pre laparoscopy period, it just lasted longer than the already quite long one. I would chat to the hospital you have had your surgery at, mine were really helpful!

That was my experience too. If you can't contact the hospital, contact your GP if you are worried.
