It’s been 2 weeks since my laparoscopy, I went in because I had bad periods and bowel pain before going toilet for a year.
It eased off quite a bit just before the laproscopy but I went anyway because I did still get pain and wanted to know what was wrong. They found an adhesion on my bowel and removed it and then gently straightened my bowel with a rectal probe. However I’m still getting the same pain I used to & I also now feel pressure in my pelvic region when I urinate every morning.
I’m quite concerned that the pains haven’t gone away yet and I would’ve thought removing the adhesion and fixing the slightly twisted bowel would have sorted the pain out? Been given no aftercare whatsoever. Not even a follow up. Anyone know if it takes time... not sure what to expect at all?
Also my stitches haven’t dissolved yet either???

My stitches havent dissolved yet either and i had a lap about 2 weeks ago too. The pain could be because everything is swollen and healing from the removal of the adhesion. When you think about it you have parts of your organs burnt or cut away. Its going to take time to heal. I had just biopsies and im still in pain now. It hurts to bend over still 🙄 i hope the pain starts to ease for you soon 🤞 x also someone else asked about stitches dissolving and one lady said her belly button took 6 weeks x
Ohhh thanks so much for letting me know about the stitches! It’s so odd seeing threads coming out of my skin that are supposed to have dissolved 😫 my bellybutton looks absolutely awful at the moment too!
I know its quite disturbing and im really worried ill catch it with my ring or something 😔 yeah my belly botton doesnt look good either but I got an infection in mine so it doesnt look pretty!
Oh no, I’m scared I’ll get an infection in mine too! Mine is beginning to hurt quite a lot when touched now 😭 wasn’t like that before but it doesnt actually look infected
Thats what mine was like, it was really sore to touch but it started weeping and swelled up. I cleaned it everyday aswell but it still got infected 😔 xx
Mine got infected after a week, they wouldnt see me cos of covid but i had to send photos and explained that it was really sore to touch, swelled and hot around my belly button. I was given antibiotics im on my last day of antibiotics today and it still hurts but is better than it was last week xx
Oh thats good hopefully a sign that its getting better. I just checked my bellybutton and there’s what looks like a bit of puss on the side i’m guessing that means it’s infected 😭 will have to ring GP tomorrow
Tbh it does sound infected and I just saw your belly button photo and it does look slightly infected xx i would definitely ring your doctor, i would call today xx
So you’ve just gone through major surgery. Your outside incisions are probably healed but inside it can take 6 or more months for it to heal and for the inflammation to go down fully. It’s only two weeks since your surgery! I had stage 4 recto vaginal Endo that fused my rectum and vagina together. It took two surgeons over 3 hours to remove the adhesion. My surgeon said I couldn’t do anything for 4-6 weeks. It took me a good 5 months to even feel slightly normal after my surgery (I have 17 chronic illnesses so I know they played a role).
Be gentle with yourself. You’ve just been through a lot. Put your feet up and relax. The more stress and pressure you put on your body the longer the inflammation will take to come down. To help speed it up try and remove gluten/wheat, dairy and sugar. These cause further inflammation in the body. Eat as much non processed organic fruits and veggies as you can. Feed your body for healing. 💕
Ohh wow okay thank you for the reassurance. My outside incisions aren’t healed yet either at all, infact the stitches are still there and my bellybutton is painful to touch now and going slightly hard 😕😭 thanks for the the advice, will try and sort my diet out too x
My lap was 3 weeks ago and am still in pain after having endo excised. I suppose it takes longer than we think. Stitches still hanging on in there too! Hope u feel better soon x
