Swollen tummy : Hey all I am two weeks post... - Endometriosis UK
Swollen tummy
Hi Kinz10, yes, in my experience (3 x laps now) that’s completely normal. For me also accompanied by some shoulder and leg pains. After my 3rd surgery (which was more extensive it to me a full month to feel like my fitted/tighter waistbands were fitting normally. Hope that’s reassuring! (Though… and severe localised pain or heat around your entry sites, or puss/sign of infection along with swelling you should get checked out by a nurse or your gp). Best of luck with the recovery and I hope the lap gives you some relief xx
Hello, I felt bloated for around 3 weeks post surgery
X
Hi, sorry you are feeling so unwell.
From my own experience l was tender for several weeks post op, and energy levels took a few more weeks than that to return.
Please be patient with yourself and allow your body to tell you what you are capable of. My biggest thing was not being able to stand for any significant time at the worktop prepping veg and such.
Keep up your liquid intake as much as you are able as dehydration can be a pain trigger post op.
I hope you are soon feeling yourself, if you would like to ask any more l return here when l get an email to say l have someone here.
Best wishes
Alexa 🌸🌸
Glad l could help a little, please be patient with yourself and let your body tell you what you are capable of.
My biggest pain in the neck was not being allowed to drive for 6 weeks, but that now, looking back was just me being wanting y independence 🤔
Take care of yourself and let people spoil you a little if they want to

thank you for posting this and the responses. I am 17 days post op and feel exactly the same.
I had the same surgery in 2019 and I couldn’t remember the length of time it took me to recover and more importantly de-bloat! (But then I looked at my camera roll - and it didn’t look like it took as long so I was worrying)
Heya nicc how are you feeling now ? My tummy is still swollen but getting better in fact my whole lower half feels swollen and I am 4 half weeks in and I feel so much pulling in my lower abdomen I thought it would be a quicker process I suppose 😞 but on advice people have said it can take upto 12 weeks for the swelling to completely go xxx
Oh I have gotten a little better. Still bloated. Just don’t feel like myself.
Two friends came to see me and after they left I was in agony. Worked out it was cause I had been laughing so much….so I don’t advise that!
Good to know it can be 12 weeks. Makes me feel like I shouldn’t be so harsh on myself.
When are you due a check up?xx
Lol painful but good to know your lovely friends are round to cheer you up 😊 it is mentally challenging on times all this business you will get there Hun ❤️. They told me 4 weeks but this is the NHS so not holding my breath lol. The lack of aftercare and advice for us is so awful thank god for places like this where we can chat and get support xx
I’ve had to pay this time 😭 and it’s the same after care.
Absolutely! Honestly I wouldn’t have a clue what was going on with me if it wasn’t for the internet!!!x
Awful nicccc you have to pay 😢 the lists are so long 6 years it's taken me for a lap. I only recently found this page and so glad I did to. How was surgery this time around nicccc did they tell you much ? I don't really feel satisfied with mine I feel like they have people doing these ops that ain't got a clue about endro xxx
So sorry I’m only now seeing this! Had clomid after the op - not letrozole. Which is what I took and conceived with the last time.
Have since asked for letrozole and am on my first round post op but can’t help thinking that the endo is back 😭
I know what you mean. Such variation in how ‘expert’ surgeons are
that’s why I didn’t wait. I wanted it for fertility so NHS wait was just a no go. £6800 (doesn’t include the anaesthetist…who’s bull I haven’t yet received but have been told that’s between £500 to £1k sick sick sick). I went to the surgeon I had the first time (on the NHS) as I had the result I wanted. Treatment and feel pregnant 3 months later. But I hear some horror stories. It’s it until you go though this that you learn just how much we don’t know (or care…?) about Women’s health!x
