Had my lap today.

Thought I'd update on my surgery today for anyone that hasn't had theirs yet. My bilateral cystectomy went really well. I had three rods put in and my ovarian cysts were pulled out through my belly button (lol ewww). Had endometrial ablation and mirena. Turns out I was absolutely riddled with endo but strangely my bowel lesions were minor. I have very few pain symptoms for the degree of severity (stage IV) anyway just crazy periods and bloating. I don't have much shoulder pain, just a little in my left. My surgeon made a bet with me that I won't have a period next month, we shook on a pound lol. I'll daily update if anyone is interested, just to show the healing process?.

Day 2. Full of wind, I'm like a human whoppee cushion 😆. Belly incision site a bit sore today. No bleeding since ablation, just pinky/orange discharge, hopefully it stays that way. I'm feeling a bit sore and miserable, so bloated, but less pain today.

Hi Nikki. Thank you for sharing these details, it's really useful.

I'm due to have a similar operation (stage 4, cystectomy and oophorectomy). How easy/difficult it is to move (standing up, sitting down, sitting upright, getting out of bed, bending etc) and do you need to be on painkillers all the time or does it vary?

I hope you're out of pain soon and wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you. So I'm three days post op, and I can walk around normally, I can bend, and stand okay. The only thing is getting out of bed, I need to use my arms and not my torso as it's quite sensitive still. I get minor twinges of pain every now and again. Still got a bit of trapped gas lol, no painful poops though. Honestly I'm on paracetamol only, I think I had one tablet of codiene the day I was discharged, it's really not been that bad. I had three laparoscopy ports so three incisions that are healing. No bleeding since my ablation and mirena was put in. Will you go on HRT after your procedure? I've honestly found the whole thing quite tolerable, so definitely don't worry too much, but I know it's easy to say x

Hi Nikki. Thank you so much for all these details, it's really put my mind at ease. It sounds manageable.

Regarding HRT, I think I'm more or less menopausal but with the cysts still there the extra estrogen might be masking any menopausal symptoms. I'll have to wait and see after the operation.

Thank you again and I hope you are fully recovered soon.

Best wishes.

It's no problem. Day 5 it seems to be an upward recovery. Almost feel normal today apart from sore belly button and the odd twinge. Good luck with your surgery, I'm hoping it all goes well for you x.

In terms of pain management, I took 4 hourly paracetamol for the first 2 days, today I've had it twice.
