Cerrelle constant bleeding

I was given the progesterone only pill because I can’t take the combination pill as I have aurora migraines and it increases the risk of stroke.

Well I have been bleeding constantly for two weeks. I’ve been on it for 5 weeks. I can handle the annoyance of a constant period but not the pain and discomfort. I recently had an adverse reaction to my co-codamol and can’t take that anymore. Now I only have ibuprofen and hot water bottles. It’s miserable. Although not as heavy as my usual it’s still quite bad for the regular person. I’ve decided to stop taking it today. I was thinking of just buying the combination pill and fuck it. I mean the actual likely hood of me having a stroke is probably pretty low. I don’t know what to do. This is my first period in 92 days because my prolactin was through the roof. I’m on cabergoline for that at the moment as well as levothyroxine. I know from experience when I was treated for this previously the period comes back really bad. I have tranexamic acid for it too. I’m so worried it will just get worse now I’ve stopped taking the pill.

I’m fucking miserable nowhere near getting a diagnosis. Every time I go to the GP I leave gaslighted and crying after being spoken to like a fucking dick.

Hi - I’m so sorry to hear this. Ask for a different doctor and ask to be referred to a gynaecologist. Assert yourself with them and say that this bleeding is affecting your quality of life and you don’t want to persevere with different pills until you have a proper diagnosis which will then get you the right treatment. Don’t get me wrong I got diagnosed with a fibroid in 2018 they still tried all the different medical managements and nine really helped but they do try to preserve fertility. I was in mini pill as well and had the same I bled constantly. It’s pretty common and can take up to approx three months for your system to adjust so I was told. However my periods were bad enough I did not want additional irregular bleeding. Stay strong and see a different doc and explain how the bleeding is affecting your quality of life because it will be - you wouldn’t be on this if it wasn’t 💕let me know how you get on and message if U need a chat xxx

I take 2 pills each day of the progesterone only pill and that stops any bleeding and ‘cycle symptoms’. I was told to try this by my GP and my specialist endo surgeon. I also have issues with cocodomal so have naproxen instead. Might be worth trying? X

I bled like crazy on the mini pill but went back to my gynaecologist who said to double the dose. Then I took two pills per day (consultant and GP said this would be okay) and my period stopped completely. Nothing now for two years and a huge improvement in quality of life. Speak to your GP /gynae and ask if you can do this.

Hiya,

Really sorry this is happening to you and I know how hard it sucks.

I'm very jealous of the other people who have commented saying they take 2 a day ☹️.

I was on it for 15 years with little to no issues, periods twice a year that lasted a week.. then after I got covid it was lasting months on end. Like the other two I was advised to start taking 2 a day and this stopped it, though I got bleeding every 3 months that lasted 10 days.

However, after a year I was told "it's not safe don't do it anymore" and I was crying down the phone.

Been 8 weeks back on one and have bled 4 weeks in total out of the 8 ☹️. I'm waiting 4 months to see if I settle back into it again. They keep asking me to get the coil, but I can't due to other health reasons 😅.

If I were you I would keep taking it and try and wait it out until you get an answer about where to go from here xx

I’ve taken a progesterone only pill before and was told to “persevere” for 3 months and I bled for 3 months. I don’t know if I can handle that.

I took two today thank you all so much for the advice and replies. I’ve got an appointment with the GP tomorrow hopefully I don’t get into trouble for taking two. They do love to refuse to treat you and then chastise you like a child for taking matters into your own hands. They refused to refer me to gynaecology last time I asked. I’m going to ask them to record it in my file if they refuse again.

My stomach is all bloated and my pelvis and hips are really sore. Ibuprofen isn’t doing anything.

That last sentence was relatable gold.

Hiya!

How did you get on? I'm seeing nurse tomorrow as I'm now on day 5 of heavy bleeding 😭. Still on one pill. Going go bed to go back on two as it's a new doctor surgery xx
