I've been put on the progesterone only pill by my gynae to see if it helps my symptoms (still not actually diagnosed with endo). I'm only nine days into taking the pill. I know it takes a while for your body to adjust and that breakthrough bleeding is common, but right now it's like I've got my full on period and I'm not due for weeks. It's not just a bit of bleeding – it's all my normal symptoms too, including quite a bit of pain. Is it normal to get this pain with the breakthrough bleeding?

I bled constantly on the progesterone only pill. It didn’t ease any of my symptoms/pain either. I know people say to stick with it a while for you body to acclimatise however, I ended up with very low iron/on prescribed iron as it continued thee entire three months I was taking. It’s unfortunately completely normal for some of us.
I’ve since tried Microgynon, which was the same. I am now taking Mercilon, the bleeding has (finally) stopped but pain/bloating are worse that ever.
Deff give it some time, at least a month or so, but if it persists I’d talk to your Gyne re. swapping. Good luck x
Thanks for your reply. I was expecting some light bleeding or spotting, but not a full on period. I've been on microgynon in the past but gynae said it's best not to use a combined pill. Thanks for your advice. I'll give it some more time.
Have you had any other progesterone only contraception previously? I had the implant for 9 months a few years ago and it was exactly the same. It’s also why I won’t be agreeing to the coil.
I think there’s a lot of contradictory info about combined pills, I’m taking back to back to stop ovulation. Which should theoretically help the endo, but who knows. Every gyne I have met with has said something different.
Have been on this for about 4 weeks and have been bleeding since week 2 (which was my predicted period date to be fair). It was very heavy for over a week and painful, but has now got lighter - even if it hasn’t stopped. I was advised to give it the full three months to settle down. Fingers crossed. I’m really bad at taking it at exactly the same time of day but I’m working on it! Hope things improve for you.
I've been on it for 3 months now and have had extremely heavy bleeding every single day . Docs have tried me on 3 different meds to slow or stop the bleeding and none of them have touched it . So fed up with it all 🥺 xx
When I was on a mini pill I bled constantly for 4 months. That was when I decided to stop taking them and flatly refused to take any other hormonal pills ever again. The next step was laparoscopy that confirmed my endo. The only thing that elegiste my symptoms was a full lifestyle. I am now totally meds free, and almost fully pain free, that I manage with TENS machine.
