Surgery waiting times

I went to the specialist at Preston in late December and was put in the list for a lap. I was told at the time it was a 12-18 month wait. I just wondered how long the waiting list is in other parts of the country? No particular reason, just wondering if 12-18 months is excessive.

Hi Mustang2598

I have been on the waiting list for urgent surgery since before covid , they have also discovered that my coil is now somewhere in my abdominal wall , they have now notified me it will be at least another 6 months before I am seen.

I live in Warwickshire but under Worcester royal, I would like to know what the waiting time are like too so great question to put out there.

hope you get seen soon

I've been waiting a year. And have my surgery in two weeks - if it happens! I only got a quicker app as one of cysts burst and my cancer markers are so high.

That's the north west. Waiting times are fairly horrendous to be honest.

Good luck xx

I was put on the list last December. I was told a years wait. But since then I've gotten so bad that i can hardly walk, my gp wrote a letter to my specialist 6 weeks ago to expedite surgery. I am told that i am now 2nd on the waiting list.It litrally seems like pot luck where we all live.

Good luck x

Yeah that sounds about right at the moment. I was told the same but was lucky enough to have the money to go private to get it out the way as i was in a lot of pain every day and was really affecting my day to day lifePerhaps ask if there is a 'last minute cancellation' list you could go on as i'm sure cancellation numbers are quite high at the moment with people getting Covid

Hi

I’m at North Manchester and been waiting for a laparoscopy since before Covid. So almost 2 years now.

I spoke to them the other day and got told the earliest It will be is nine months and the latest three years it’s crazy.

I spoken to The Alexander private hospital in Wilmslow as-well and they can get you in pretty quick within months but it’s £10,000 just for the laparoscopy.

Good luck
