waiting times for surgery
Hiya, it's so worrying isn't it, I'm waiting too. Saw consultant in September, who said 6-8 months wait, I got in contact with them after 6 months and it's now 9-12 months I am in Gloucestershire though and my consultant only does 2 days of surgery a month, so will be different in other places for sure, but it's hard waiting. I'm trying to keep my life busy to distract from the wait. Good luck, hope it's not too long for you!
Hi Hannah27,My gynae told me 4 -6 months wait for surgery ( London) about a month ago. So let's see how that goes.
I hope you get a rapid response soon .
There are unfortunately long waits everywhere! I had excision surgery 6 weeks ago and I ended up waiting 17 months
I’m desperately needing my surgery, in heaps of pain every single day, popping codiene like smarties🙈 really struggling to look after my young daughter and so close to being let off from work. I’m in Bedford and been told waiting times are well over a year, 70 weeks was a couple of months ago, but cancer patients obviously get priority and so the waiting list just keeps getting longer if you don’t have cancer. Yesterday I was told they have over 500 patients waiting for gynae surgery so I’m in for a very long wait. 😭😭😭😭
I think it depends on the area, the hospital and your medical route. I think it's up to 18 months here on the NHS (I'm in the Midlands) but i went through the NHS route of a Private Hospital for my first one and it was under 6 months (last year). My next one is self-paying with an Endo Specialist so ~8 to 10 weeks.
I was waiting 10 months for hysterectomy, joint surgeons (in Staffordshire). And I called the waiting list coordinator every couple months. They gave me date 3 months before surgery 💛
Hi, I'm in Lincolnshire and was waiting about 15 months. Had surgery last month. It will depend on your area and what demand/capacity is x
Are you going private or on NHS? that’s the big question. I’m not sure on NHS as guess how busy that department is in your area. Recently I was waiting for an NHS appt for my daughter. I was promised within 3/4 months but ended up being closer to 9.
Private… could vary from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
Hoping you get some prompt answers!
I'm based in Leicester spoke to my gyno this morning and was told I'm being put on waiting list for endo surgery. He will be performing a hystelopingagram (i think that's how u spell it) too during surgery which is a life saver as it was so painful the first time I got it. Anyways I asked him how long the wait was and he said 6 months for surgery I did request if its possible to hurry and he said he will put me down for any cancellations. This is through NHS btw. Wish you all the best I cant imagine the pain u must be going through.
