Waiting time for surgery??

Does anyone know how long you have to wait for laproscopy surgery on nhs after being put on list?

Yes, I chase every week.. hate having to do it, but needs must. Not that its getting me anywhere fast. I had my pre op 3 weeks ago which made me think I wouldn't be waiting to much longer... Only to be told this week that the pre op lasts for 3 months! Grrrrrrrr x

I did, they told me the waiting list was long and they they "wouldn't be able to date my surgery before the end of May" Their words. I think that means i wont be given a date for my op until after the end of May rather than my op will be sometime before the end of may.

Is that how you would read it?

Hi, Yes I agree.. sounds like they are saying you will receive the Op date letter around the end of May.

Lovely! Have you been to Oxford before? I haven't actually been to JR yet so don't have a clue what it's like. All my previous Laps have been in Swindon.

Hiya it will depend on your local NHS trusts waiting periods. The waiting period for me was 12 weeks, my 12 weeks wait is up soon but when I phoned last week I was advised some hospitals are running to 15 weeks .

When I was referred I was given a booklet that advised of the procedure and waiting time. If you have any referral letters there should be a number for the referral section and they should be able to tell you. When I phoned they were very helpful and put me through to my surgeons secretary for an up to date position. x

Mine was 11 weeks, my surgery is in 5 weeks and I'm still waiting for my pre op to be booked. Hope all goes well xx

Thanks nicola- i am going to a for a private consultation but unsure how it works when it comes to nhs surgery x

It really depends where you are - I waited 7 weeks for my first surgery (NHS funded at a private hospital) but the waits at the bsge centre I was seen at after that were considerably longer - 16 weeks from seeing the consultant to the first surgery, and 18 weeks after that for the second.

I'm on NHS in Norfolk, got told 30th Jan I needed another laproscopy, rang yesterday and they've told me provisionally 9th may.
