Hey ladies I was wondering if anyone could help or be happy to share similar experiences?
I have my laparoscopy booked in for January 21st and am also having a hysteroscopy at the same time, has anyone else had both at the same time and is the recovery time longer or can I expect it to be abit more brutal. I'm starting to get more nervous. Eeeeek!!!!! Happy new year to you all 💗

I had the exact same done on the 23rd December and I’m recovering really well. They found endometriosis in 4 places and managed to remove it there and then. I was pretty adamant they weren’t going to find anything so it was a bit of a shock when I came round! I have 4 incisions and they all look completely different. They’re a little sore and stingy and a couple have bruised but there’s not been too much pain after the first few days. The gas pain was quite intense but again, that only lasted a couple of days and the codeine and paracetamol helped a lot. Rest, sleep, eat well and drink lots, move around if you can, watch movies, read books and be kind to yourself. ❤️
My biggest piece of advice is to ask lots of questions… think about them in advance and write them down. Anything about the procedure, aftercare, side effects, recovery, the condition, what they do/don’t find and what this means etc etc etc. I felt as though I got very little information about my surgery and because I wasn’t expecting the diagnosis I was underprepared in terms of my knowledge of endometriosis. I don’t know exactly where they found it, how they removed it, how long to leave my dressings and compression socks on, when I can have a bath etc and it’s meant I’ve spent too much time on Google freaking myself out 😂
I hope this is helpful and not too much information! Feel free to ask me any more questions.
Best of luck, I hope everything goes really well for you and you have a super speedy recovery. ❤️ x
Hiya! I had both in January 2020, 3 areas of endo removed and an endocervical polyp removed. Recovery was less than 2 weeks, bleeding lasted no longer than a week. Just ask aaaaall the questions about what to expect from surgery and recovery so you know what to flag after (if anything). I would stock up on fibre rich, easy to eat/heat food for after, take a pillow with you for in the car after, peppermint tea and pain relief. Expect gas pains, including in your shoulders (wasn’t expecting this to be so uncomfortable!) and make it possible to get plenty of rest in the days following 🙂
Thank you so much for your reply 😌 may I ask without being too graphic BDO you think the bleeding was worse because of the hysteroscopy and was it bad? Xx
I wouldn’t have thought so, no. It was heavy for maybe 3 days and then slowed a lot for the remainder. I do think it maybe lasted a little longer but it was completely manageable and lighter than a normal period (for me). I would say though, don’t get too hung up on what others experience, as your experience is completely your own and as long as you can manage it in the moment then just lean into it and do what you need to do to recover 🙂 xxx
Hey! I had the same a few weeks ago and recovering well although I do feel more tired still than I had expected. Great answers already...only things I'd add...If you are comfortable to, ask the surgeon if they can ring someone after the surgery to let them know what they found/did. My surgeon rang my husband and I'm so glad she did (I would of been way too overwhelmed afterwards to take much info in).
And definitely a heat pack for the shoulder pain from the gas.
Best of luck, I'm sure it'll all go well and hopefully you'll get the outcome/info you are hoping for x
That's really helpful thank you so much for your reply. So happy to hear you're recovering well, can I ask do you work? If so when were you able to go back fully? Xx
My pleasure! 2 weeks off work was about right for me...it depends what you do, if you're on your feet a lot I'd say any sooner than that would be tiring. If you work full time and there's the option of shorter days or something to ease you back in that would be worth discussing? x
Thanks for posting. I’m one of the health unlocked moderators for Endo UK. Recovery wise, the best advise I can give is to rest, then rest, and rest some more. Take the meds the hospital give you to keep yourself comfortable. The gynaecologists seem to have a habit of informing you of the surgery finding when you are still a bit groggy. It absolutely okay to ask for this to be written down for you, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. It’s your body. I’ve also attached some information about what to expect with a laparoscopy, I hope that helps. Take care and I wish you all the luck for your surgery.
