hi everyone can anyone that’s had both hysteroscopy and lap please give me some reassurance. I’m panicking I go in on Thursday and I keep seeing so many posts of people that have had one or the other but not both. Really scared and nervous xx

I had both at the same time 💜I wasn’t aware of anything as I was under anaesthesia. Ask away, what would you like to know? Is it your first operation? X

Hi thank your for replying, yes it’s my first op and the anxiety is through the roof. So I’ve read that you bleed after a laparoscopy but because I’m also having polyps removed I’m guessing that will cause bleeding so I’m going to be bleeding a lot then? I’m suppose I’m scared of loosing a lot of blood, and then double the pain and discomfort when I wake up, xx

That’s ok I was like that when it was my first operation i felt physically sick leading up to it and on the day. I suppose they are use to people feeling this way.

I had some bleeding after my lap and hysteroscopy but not too much, nothing compared to what I’m use to anyway. The only thing I couldn’t do was urinate afterwards, I was staying overnight anyway as i live quite far from the hospital, it took me until midnight to pee. I was vomiting with the anaesthetic but everyone is different. I found recovery quite easy, 2 weeks and I was ok.

Once you get home get plenty of rest, don’t overdo it, sleep a lot and when you eat make sure it’s nutritious meals to make you feel a bit better xx

Thank you I’ve got to stay over she said 2-3 nights I’m hoping only 1 but will see, my husbands taking a week off to look after me. I keep thinking about the anesthetic to that worries me incase anything goes wrong xx

Honestly don’t worry about that, I had all kinds of things in my head that could go wrong, and none of it happened. once they put the canula in your hand and then the anaesthetic, you will be out of it by time you count to 3. It’s actually a nice feeling, just like being very sleepy and falling asleep xx

Thank you for the reassurance I’ll be glad when it’s done, I have to be there at 7am and I’m on the morning list so hopefully not too long waiting xx

Mention how very, very anxious you are to any medical staff that morning, especially to the anaesthetist, and they will a) reassure you and b) hopefully get you in as quick as they can. Stress the anxiety it is causing you. When I had my hysteroscopy, and subsequent hysterectomy at a later date, I was pretty much the first one in as they didn't want my anxiety to ratchet up too much. I know each hospital is different but they were lovely with me and didn't make me feel silly for worrying at all.

I had a hysteroscopy and lap at the same time too- as mentioned above was all okay in terms of bleeding compared to normal! Most was just straight after and then was minimal for a few days. The anaesthetic also freaked me out I was getting so worked up about it. But yep as soon as it’s in you you’re out and awake once it’s all over ❤️

The only thing I did experience was quite bad cramping when I came to, but when I voiced this they gave me some morphine straight away and tablets when I was more awake. Also very glad to be put under anaesthetic for the hysteroscopy and felt nothing due to having the lap too unlike some unfortunate girlies … hope you recover well and take care of yourself x

Hey, I had both done at the same time on Saturday. I think the benefit is the extra anaesthetic for the hysteroscopy (as I know that is often under local), so I liked at it as a win. Recovery wise I would say I wouldn't have known the hysteroscopy had been done if it wasn't for the confirmation. The laparoscopy is a bit sore so taking the focus. Glad I could get it all done at once and it doesn't feel like anything extra on the recovery. Hope that helps

That does help thank you, I’m having polyps removed with the hysteroscopy so worried about how much I will bleed with it, im glad yours all went well xx

I was worried about this too but tbh it was very minimal for me on the day and since. My nurse had it done recently and it was the same for her too. So hopefully thats a good sign. Good luck x
