1 year 6 months post-lap

Hello, I was just wondering whether anyone else has experienced increased pain and periods when over 1 year post-lap? I complained about the pain 6 months post to my consultant, however that was nothing compared to this 😅 The last 2/3 months or so, I’m only getting 15-20 days break between periods, the bleeding hasn’t increased but it’s lasting up to 10 days at a time. Previously was dark brown colour and now getting more red. I have a mirena coil in situ, I’ve had that around 2 years ago. Just wondering whether this is a coil issue or a sign that the ends is re-growing? Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do about it?

Thanks!

I had my lap in April and experiencing the same thing with the Mirena coil. Two weeks or so of no bleeding then a period-like bleed with bright red blood. The cramping is worse than a regular period for me but the bleeding isn’t heavy as it was before the lap.

Considering having the coil removed but then I would be back to the start! For me, I think this is a coil issue but hadn’t considered it might still be endo returning.

I had my lap in Nov 2020, was fine up until a month ago where the pain has come back more severe and periods after 20 days. Im not on any contraceptive so think my endo is back. Was aware it could return but not this soon!

I feel you on that one! I’m just unsure on whether for push for another lap or not. As my last one was not done by a specialist centre but by a general gynaecologist due to waiting times

Just as i was googled 'how many laps is too much' you replied haha. Im in the same boat- have an app next week with the gp but i need to emotionally prepare myself for the battle as it was such an effort to get them to refer me last time! I think its deffo worth you pushing for an ultrasound (which is what im gonna do) to see if theres anything glaringly obvious and then take it from there.

It’s so frustrating it shouldn’t have to be like this!! Are you still not under your gynae consultant? Mine sees me every 6 months currently. Due to go back next month! As physically and emotionally draining it is, I would push for it! I’ve debated it for a while and I think I will… or maybe a CT/MRI as I’ve heard they are more effective than an ultrasound! X

Well i had to go privately to get diagnosed as the GP kept saying it was stress, managed to get the lap done privately then wam bam thank you mam that was it! The endo was removed in the lap so there was no further action. Now that its possibly back ill definitely speak to my GP about getting something set up. Thanks for the CT/MRI tip, ill ask for that instead!
