Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences…I had pelvic pain for around 7 months and the mirena coil inserted to help with suspected endo however it caused the worst pain I have ever experienced for the first two weeks then around 20 days of random varying pain through the month and regular spotting when my period would be. Had the coil 9 months had it removed around about a month ago and have only experienced 4 days of main in 4 weeks! Feeling so much better with it out and greatful for this although haven’t had a ‘proper’ period yet but wondered if anyone else has experienced this?
Thank you! X

I also felt worse with the mirena coil in. When I had it removed they said it was slowy coming out by itself and the pain was probably it working it's way out. I felt a little better after it out too.
I had it taken out to have a baby and have really been struggling with pains since having her. Starting to loose my mind a little and think I will need to go to someone soon but don't really know where to start. What are you doing now?
Sorry to hear that, there’s nothing worse than constant pain! I’m just going to see how I am the next couple of months with nothing and if it’s only just before my period I’m going to try amytriptiline at night. X
Hey, I also had the coil fitted to 'help' with the pain and ended up with more pain than the actual endo in the first place. Managed to last a month and had to get it removed. I'm now on the mini pill and have a review in 3 months to see how that's working.
I’m one of the health unlocked moderators for Endo UK. It certainly sounds like the coil wasn’t agreeing with you. I’ve heard very mixed reviews of the coil and I know it can take some time to settle down after fitting. I’m glad you feel better after having it removed. There are various treatments available for endo, I have attached some info for you in case it is helpful. Take care and we’re here for support.
Hi Jasmine, I don't have endo but had a mirena coil fitted due to horrendous period pains and heavy periods that were impacting me for 2 weeks each month. However, the coil not only affected me mentally (which was unexpected) but caused pelvic pain the whole time it was in - which was over a year! No one suspected the coil was the cause of the pain until I read some anecdotal stuff on the internet and figured it was worth a shot. Within a day of it being removed the constant pelvic pain that kept me awake at night was gone and I haven't looked back.
My periods came back and were 'normal' (my normal) afterwards. I ended up doing lots of research into nutrition and lifestyle changes that helped reduce the 'usual' period pain but obviously that might not help if you have endo. I read 2 books, 'the period repair manual' and 'period power' which I found really helpful and would recommend everyone reads.
Hi and thanks for your reply and experience. That’s really interesting, what did you read online? I’m so glad you have found a new balance with diet and I’ll look into that to read. I’m so glad I decided to have it taken out but also a bit worried about how my next normal period will be but wishing to try and not medicate myself as much as I possibly can. Thanks
