Ovarian Cystectomy?

Hi, I went to the hospital yesterday and I'm being booked in for another laparoscopy and a double Ovarian cystectomy. They are likely to take one or both ovaries entirely due to large dermoid cysts/benign tumours in both ovaries . Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone had this surgery? I feel really nervous! I've had a laparoscopy before but that was a while ago and my anxiety and other health conditions have definitely gotten worse since then.

Haven’t had this but had hysterectomy with ovaries left in, I now have a mass on left ovary due to be scanned again, how big are yours if u don’t mind me asking as mine was 3.5cm at last scan and wondering how big do they get before they are removed. I hope all goes well, how long do you have to wait? Hopefully not long xx

One is 4 cm and one is 2.5 cm x I'm not sure if there's a particular size, though the consultant said over 5cm they start to worry more. Mine are in my ovaries and causing them to stretch, so that might be why they are removing them. The consultant said it could be 5/6 months before I get a date for surgery! Xx

I had my op 10 days ago. Initially to remove a dermoid cyst from one side and they had to take my ovary and tube. I'm not yet back to work, hoping to start a phased return next week. I've been pretty much off my feet the last 10 days but starting to pick up now. Good luck x

Hi Emmeline14. Yes, luckily and thankfully I have had 2 children. It took 6 years, lots of surgical intervention and Ivf but we got our babies. I really hope you get yours!

I had an 8cm endometrial cyst and my left ovary removed in 2018 after a visit to a&e so I didn't have much time to panic while I was waiting for the operation. The pain I went into a&e with stopped until recently.

Not sure if this is classed as advice. I always over think and over read about everything, Google is a girls best friend afterall, but I always remember that the docs/surgeons know more. They know what they are doing.

Good luck with your op! And I hope you feel better once you have recovered xx

I've got two cysts on both ovaries that have joined together - kissing ovaries. At last scan in June they were 23cm combined. I'm due to have surgery but there's no great rush! I wish there was!!Due to have hysterectomy Inc ovaries etc.

Hope you get sorted soon.
