Advice needed for Nausea while on period

I’m just over 4 weeks post op….I bled for the first two weeks after my Lap & I had last week as a break, last night I started bleeding again!

I’m in absolute agony, and I honestly didn’t think I could bleed any heavier, before my surgery it used to be so heavy but now it seems to be worse.

I can kind of deal with the pain & bleeding because it’s been happening so long, but I feel so nauseous & today alone I’ve been sick twice….This happens every time I’m on my period & my GP doesn’t seem to be helping. I don’t see my consultant until the middle of August!

Has anyone got any tips for nausea?, I’m at a loss with what to do, I know my pain I can handle with painkillers when needed, but the nausea & sickness is really affecting me especially when I’m at work 😣

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I’m interested to know which painkillers you are taking? Many strong prescription painkillers have nausea as a common side effect. I’m unable to take certain painkillers for this reason. It may be a matter of talking to your doctor about trying a different pain medication.

For mild nausea I get some relief from ginger tablets that you can buy from the chemist. If your nausea is quite severe (which it sounds like it is) then you should ask your GP for a script for anti emetic tablets to stop the nausea and vomiting. If your GP isn’t helping you I would get an opinion from another GP. Sadly women get dismissed far too often with these kind of concerns!

Thank you. I’m currently taking tramadol, paracetamol and Diclofenic. I try and hold off throughout the day and just take paracetamol and use other things to combat the pain….I’m finally speaking to another GP tomorrow so hopefully I can get a script sorted out for something! Thanks for the suggestion, sometimes it is just mild nausea but sometimes it ramps up to me actually been sick! X

Tramadol and diclofenac both have nausea and vomiting as listed side effects so potentially one or both could be making you feel sick. I know a lot of doctors say paracetamol for pain but when it comes to endo pain I think it doesn’t even touch the sides 😩

I have found that over the counter sodium naproxen (anti inflammatory) works well for me with no side effects. Your doctor can also prescribe stronger anti inflammatory meds, ask for something they think won’t give you nausea. Also make sure to always take with food otherwise anti inflammatories can upset your stomach lining and give you stomach ulcers. Hopefully you can find a type of pain relief better suited to you, good luck with your dr appt tomorrow 😊 x

I honestly just take the other two maybe twice a day when I’m bad if that and try and survive off paracetamol despite it really not touching the pain because I’m sick off Been made to be a drug seeker out of any medical professional I deal with.

The last time I asked for something stronger then codiene which I was on at the time I was given a full on lecture about how I shouldn’t be taking any opioids and I should just been using paracetamol and trying to use things like hot water bottles to help the pain. So I try use them sparely so I don’t run out.

I have had a stronger anti inflammatory before called meloxicam which didn’t make me nausea but currently there refusing to prescribe it 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Thank you I’m hoping it goes well x

I’m so sorry to hear that, unfortunately so many medical professionals lack knowledge when it comes to endo. Anyone living with endo knows how unbearable the pain can be at times. Before I was diagnosed, I was sent away from the hospital with reflux tablets 🙄 I was in so much pain I could barely move.

Opioid drugs are quite restricted but if meloxicam works well for you maybe ask why they are so reluctant to prescribe it for you? Hopefully your doctor can show some more empathy xx
