I had surgery for endometriosis removal via laparoscopy with diathermy to endometriosis and insertion of mirena coil. I had this surgery on 12/12/20 I’ve had no real problems with recovery on Saturday 2/1/21 I walked my dog who is big weighing 60kg he did pull me a little which since then I’ve had really pulling right stabbing sensation on left side. Since Saturday I’ve rested and had no pain since. Today I do some dusting and house bits no heavy lifting and the pain has just intensified! I’m not back at work as gp signed me off for 6 weeks! What do you suggest I do? Continue to rest or should I call my doctor? Wonder if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks xx

Recovery from laparoscopy for endometriosis removal
Hi Chloe_R
Unfortunately it can take a good couple of weeks (if not months) to recover from a laparoscopy and recovery is different for every person and depends on what the operation involved. I personally needed about 2 weeks of sitting on the couch doing nothing and then I very slowly started moving about and going for short walks of 5-10 mins. It probably took me about 3 months before I started to feel 'normal' and 6 months before I could get my jeans back on!
If you are concerned though, it is worth speaking to your GP or phoning 111. Remember you know your body best and if something doesn't feel right then it is worth getting it checked - even if it is just to put your mind at rest.
Look after yourself and rest up xxx
Hi
I would recommend contacting your consultant or GP to have a check up. They should have provided contact details when you were discharged from the ward. It’s worth doing so for your own peace of mind. Try and take it easy and relax for a bit longer. Although laparoscopic surgery is a less invasive technique, complications can and do occur unfortunately. Allow yourself the time to recover. I have experienced the same surgery and also work as a HCP in theatres, so I’ve seen a lot of them. I know that it would be no problem at all to follow up on these symptoms 🙂
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
