Laporoscopy or not

Hi everyone, just new to this platform. I felt i should ask for your opinion here. I am a 36 year old lady with three previous ceasarian sections. A year ago, noticed a dull ache when I passed urine that got me worried and i visited the GP who referred me to ED and a couple of blood test was done to rule kidney problem. Since then i have not had as often any ache after passing urine but notice that when i run or do vigorous exercise i feel pain at my lower right abdomen. Also, when i press at my abdomen i feel a mild dull pain. The pain does not affect my daily activities and work but i know it is there. I have a heavy period which is uncomfortable and was referred to have a scan of which the result showed endometrian thickening. Due to this Gp referred to a gynaecologist who has now offered to do hysterescopy and laporoscopy with mirena coil fitting. I am worried about the laporoscopy, the recovery and being able to continue work. My work involves being up and about for 12 hours, i am worried if i can return to work after may be two weeks and be okay at work. Do you think i should try a treatment before going any surgery?or perhaps ask for other investigations first. Gynaecologist placed me on the waiting list in April and now have booked me in for August to have the surgery. I am scared of that laporoscopy and wondered if i should a treatment first since i am not in so much pain yet. Your opinion will be appreciated. Sorry for the long write up.

Have they advised of what other treatment is on offer?, I’ve had 2 C-sections & years of pain but got worse after my last child, think c-sect can leave adeshions from scar inside, I tried everything & had laparoscopy & full total abdominal hysterectomy, I was pain free for a few months, then beginning of this year had a lot of adhesions removed & things separated as it was stuck to my stomach wall, however got pain back after another few months - but not sure if this down to stress!🤦‍♀️.

Anyway - I would try everything first before surgery, I was told they didn’t think hysterectomy would benefit me I decided to go ahead, it should be the last resort.

Good luck 👍

Thanks Gingernut74 for your reply. This is exactly what i was thinking. I know i have pain but i will like to try everything else first before surgery. The gyneacologist is offering a hysterescopy and mirena coil fitting and suggested having laparoscopy so she can perform all while i'm under general anaesthestic or that i can have hysterescopy with the Mirena and see if things resolve.

Do you mind me asking if you had MRI done for the lap and TAH? I'm thinking of asking for MRI while trying other treatments first before going the laparoscopy route.

I had a couple of MRI’s, there is a specific pelvic one which picks up thing better, I’ve had a few laparoscopy’s & also had a mirena fitted too whilst Under general, that worked as in no periods but eventually again did have pain, but I’m just wondering now if I’ve got a chronic pain/anxiety disorder as no matter what’s been done hasn’t cured it, & I think I am a really anxious/stressed out person which can cause inflammation & heightens pain, I’m also a redhead who apparently are more sensitive to pain 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️, but I wud ask for an mri first but unfortunately a lot more is detected by a lap, I was always fine after 2/3 days tbh - just take it easy.

Yes , i will ask for MRI first. Sorry to hear the pain has returned even after all these procedures. Take care of yourself and hope you feel better with time x

Oh another suggestion as I found reflexology & reiki just about banished all my pain but as pain has come back I’ve recently been wondering if all the surgery has been for nothing & ive got something like a chronic pain/anxiety disorder as I’m a really stress head, anxious, worrier - who holds a lot of tension & struggles to relax, & because of lockdown I’ve not had any treatments? So that’s worth a try too before you try any surgery & in the meantime 🤞.

Good luck & hope u feel better soon too x

Oh thanks, that's so kind of you giving me all the helpful tips. Will try and find where they do them near me. I am also a worrier-always overthinking with frequent tension headaches. I have been doing stretch exercises at home as much i can plus OH helping with some massages which have been helpful in the mean time x

I would def try giving it a go I really couldn’t believe how well it worked, give it a good few sessions, I alternate with a treat just before painful times, which would be just before my period & ovulation which was always the worst & longest, apart from it helping with pain it’s so relaxing & lovely 🤞x

Hi again,

Just thought of something else that may help you which I’m only now just trying - cbd oil, helps with pain & anxiety Which also maybe worth a try before taking any drastic unnecessary steps? X 🤞
