Hi I am due my laparoscopy on 2 July to diagnose and laser endo if found. I was booked to do the London 10k on the 12 July. I am just wondering, would I still be ok to do the 10k or not?

Hi, I personally don't think you will be ok to do the run,I had my op on the 15th May and I am still recovering...I am totally exhausted doing the smallest things...I had my severe endo lasered and a 8cm cyst removed from my left ovary...everyone recovers differently and you maybe absolutely fine but I am a runner and there is no way I could do a 10k now...I suppose it depends on what they find and what they do but please don't push yourself, wouldn't want any harm coming to you...I am due back to work on Friday and I'm dreading it...best of luck with your op and run if you decide to do it..just see how you feel after your op x

Really depends what they find. You may be able to walk it. I wouldnt like to run that close to a lap...

I had my first lap a few months ago, ended up having 4 inscions & endo burnt away. I Normally cope with things well, but I was barely able to sit up for 1st week, 2nd week I was able to move around more but got very tired quickly and was very uncomfortable if I over did it, by 3weeks I felt back to normal unless I did any lifting or exercise, overall I had 3weeks off work. I hope everything goes well & you have a speedy recovery, but I'm doubtful you will be running or walking a 10K honestly, but having said that every one is different x good luck xxxx

I couldn't walk or dress myself 2 weeks after mine, and was off work for 5 weeks, everyone recovers differently, but your more than likely won't be able to do it :)

I wouldn't like to run 10 days after surgery. Walking maybe, depending on pre-op fitness levels and diet. Read 'Recover Quickly From Surgery' by Valerie Girard.

More importantly, ask your surgeon.

I do a fair bit of cycling and my consultant said not to start major exercise for a month. Although was keen to get going that turned out to be too soon for me - two weeks off work then easy walking for three weeks before doing anything else. Went for a bike ride after four weeks and turned back in 10mins!

Everyone's different but two weeks feels a bit soon for running, see what your consultant says (and maybe your GP later on to see how you're healing?). Hope it all goes well :)

I tried to go for a run 2 weeks after my 1st lap and managed a mile before collapsing in pain and having to get collected and taken home. And that was just the camera, no lasers or cutting away. I wouldn't risk 10K run

I had mine done in December and had severe endo with laser on everything. Had no real pain as such after just full of gas which took me a few weeks to get rid of. I started resuming normal activities around 3 weeks later and was back up to triathlons in March and running again 3 weeks after. Everyone is different though i guess. Good luck :)

Personally, I wouldn't have been able to do it after my laparoscopy (I had 2 and a half weeks off work) but everyone is different. I would ask your gynae what they think too.

I would say no, I think it's far to soon and you would properly end up harming yourself, sorry to sound harsh but defenantly think it would be a wronge move,

Good luck with you lap, and I wish you a speedy recovery
