Monthly right sided pain

Hi all, I would just be interested if anyone else has the same as me and any advice-when I was initially diagnosed with endo my pain was near constant. I then had surgery to remove endo tissue and scarring and this pretty much eliminated my pain which was amazing. Fast forward a couple of years-I struggled massively with all types of hormonal contraception so came off just over a year ago. A couple of months later I started getting right sided pain which starts a week before I'm due and then eases after my period. The doctor I spoke to said it sounds endo related and around ovulation so advised trying the pill again and to take the packets back to back with no break. I have now been on it for about 4 weeks. Yesterday I started getting the pain again and having checked it's exactly a week before I would have been due if I wasnt on the pill. My questions are-1. Does anyone else get this pain before a period which eases 2. If so did going on the pill help, do I just need to give it more time?

I'm just feeling a bit list and frustrated. I'm also a little worried that with the absence of a period now, maybe it wont ease off like it usually does but I guess only time will tell.

Thanks ladies

Yes, for years, never really did anything about it, apart from end up at A&E a few times. You do need to talk to your GP for a referral if they haven’t already, unless your still under a gynaecologist.

Try not to do what I’ve done and leave it, just complicates things!

Thanks, I've tried to get an appointment with the gynae I'm under but the endometriosis clinic isnt running right now so I have to wait for them to reopen (hopefully soon). Did you ever get told what was causing yours or was it just a general endo issue and not something specific?

I’ve had bad periods since forever (52). I remember late teens/early twenties ending in hospital overnight, bad pain right side, during the night period started. Couple times, no one suggested anything and I coped with over the counter meds. I’ve been pretty active, so that possibly helped. End 2018, ended up at A&E, GP thought burst ulcer. Whilst there period started and they said UTI and sent me home. Last year lots going to loo, abdomen pain, eventually had kidney scan. This showed fibroids, still getting no where NHS and booked private. Mainly to find out about fibroids and came out with endo diagnosis 😂. Surprised him as well as I should have been past it and menopause. Didn’t think there was much and changed his mind at lap, fairly extensive.

I’m waiting for the endo MDT meeting, in a very similar boat as you on that.

For me I think it’s a mixture of endo, fibroids and uterus, gynaecologist thinks the endo is the bigger issue.

Hi! I was seen in clinic some few weeks ago for this exact issue (right sided pain a week prior to my period which then improves during the period before finally disappearing).

I must say I am not on any form of hormonal treatments so I can't comment on that!

My Gynae was concerned I had an ovarian cyst but luckily a recent transvaginal scan (2 weeks ago) confirmed this was not the case. However, during my last lap (Jan 20) I had a very large Corpus Luteum Cyst (5cm) that was noted. This is the definition of a Corpus Luteum Cyst from Wikipedia: "A Corpus luteum cyst is a type of ovarian cyst which may rupture about the time of menstruation, and take up to three months to disappear entirely."

He reassured me that the cyst is a normal part of the menstrual cycle & nothing to be concerned about, however it is causing such pain because it won't rupture! During my transvaginal scan my Gynae concluded that he thinks the Adhesions which have formed post Op are making it difficult for this Cyst to rupture & disappear and this is why I am experiencing the extreme abdo pain every month prior to my bleed. It has been 6 months now and

I hope this provides a bit more insight/information for you - I know it certainly helped me to have an answer for this specific pain. I hope your condition improves!
