I had my laparoscopy a week ago today, last Wednesday. I stopped taking my painkillers on Sunday as I didn’t feel like I needed them anymore. However, Monday evening I started to get a pain to the left hand side of my belly button. Maybe 4cm to left of it. It feels as though something is stuck in my tummy, it’s hard to touch and hurts when someone feels it. When I try lay on my side at night, it becomes more uncomfortable and hurts. I rang my ward and he said to start taking cocodomol again as it will be healing and to go to A&E tomorrow if it’s not better. I have a temperature of 37.5 and I did get my appetite back but it went again on Monday. Has anyone else had similar symptoms post surgery?

Mine wasn’t exactly the same as my whole stomach was just a bit firm from the bloating, but I did get that pain you are desribing. I ended up with my gp (who I actually only saw to get more painkillers for my back) carting me off to a&e even though minus feeling a bit bruised and that pain when touched my stomach and just general exhaustion I didn’t actually feel ‘unwell’ but I had an infection (I think a urine infection but was hard to actually get an answer) and turned out I had a high temperature and my heart rate was through the roof, I still got pains even once they cleared me and sent me home again. If you are worried best to just get checked out, could be absolutely nothing! But at least that way you aren’t worrying about what it could be x
This sounds like it could be infection. Maybe not, but better to play it safe. I would go to emerg and have them run some blood work and assess you. Good luck
