I had a diagnostic lap on Monday. I had emergency open surgery when abroad last May and they removed an endometrioma from my left ovary, simple cyst from my right ovary and my appendix. My pain was worsening so I knew I had endometriosis somewhere else.
I had a diagnostic lap on Monday afternoon and I woke up to be told my left ovary was stuck (can’t remember where to) and freed, I had adhesions (can’t remember where) which they freed and on the surface I had minimal spots of endometriosis that they didn’t see the point in treating.
My first question is. Has anyone had endo found that wasn’t treated? I was told they would burn any found then they didn’t, I’m so confused and angry. Won’t it just get worse now?
They told me I was only stage 1 but doesn’t having an endometrioma make me a higher stage? Could I have had endo somewhere they didn’t look?
I have to wait 3 months to see my consultant after surgery. Is this normal? What if I’m in agony before then?
Im day 5 and really struggling with the pain. I’m taking tramadol and co-codamol but still struggling. I’m also finding it difficult to sleep and exhausted.
Should I phone my GP?
I’m in Scotland and really don’t know where to go from here. I doubt I would get a referral to my nearest bsge centre
Sorry for the long post.
Any advice really appreciated xx

That doesn’t sound right . Stage one eventually grows into stage 2 and so on ! Why would they just leave it ? I’d ask for an earlier appointment and say you have concerns about your surgery .
They should treat and check everywhere in the pelvic area...probably they left some endo behind... that's why you still have pains. I have stage 1 of endometriosis spread to bowl, tubes, bladder and on my left overy I have a chocolate cyst( 5cm)and that overy it's not working anymore and they will remove it 😞😞😞... the consultant visited me after surgery and explained me everything!!! I am on emergency list for my 2 nd lap for endometriosis excision.
My advice is to find a specialsit in edo... not private it's verry expesive, through NHS.
Good luck !!! I know what you're are going through 😩😩😩
Unfortunately I’m in Scotland and my nearest NHS BSGE centre won’t see me unless my current gynae consultant refers me as its in a different region. Their waiting list is huge and you’re not guaranteed to be seen so I’m kind of stuck
I will start looking into specialist that I can see private but then treat me in the NHS
I hope you get your surgery soon and feel better soon xx
Where about it Scotland are you? I’m also from Scotland I’ve just been diagnosed with stage 4, I had my follow up at Edinburgh endo centre , I will now need a major op but your follow up app should be at a endo clinic .. my surgeon / specialist is so supportive , Edinburgh may be out your region but I would ask at your follow up to be referred there .. I don’t know why they didn’t refer you to a endo clinic ... call the hospital you were at and ask to have a written diagnostic letter to your gp xx
Hi LolaLo I’m in Edinburgh too- just wondering who your surgeon is? I’ve just been referred to the BSGE centre at the ERI... not sure on the rules about naming on the board but if you were happy to pm me; I’d love to know who you saw. I’m nervous!
Haha - I had to check - but I think you click on my username and then my homepage comes up and there’s a button top right with two speech bubbles...think that does the pm!
I’m in Fife and to be honest I don’t think they have a clue. Some of the things said and done prior to my lap left me with no confidence I’d be treated correctly and it turned out correct.
I spoke to the secretary at the BSGE centre in Edinburgh and they won’t see me without a referral and because they’re saying I’m only stage 1 which based on symptoms and my past endometrioma, I’d guess is not a true reflection, I highly doubt they would see me. I think they only deal with severe cases with major bowel and bladder involvement.
I’m pretty distraught as to where to go next. If I knew if any decent private Endos I’d pay to see them but I’ve no idea xx
Contact PALS and make a complaint and tell them that you have big pains and you can't whait that long.. an they can put you on emergency list, I did the same...thank you!! Xoxoxo
