Anyone due to have a laparoscopy in May!?
Hello 😊I’m about to have my 6th lap next week but I thought you may be interested to know that if you looked through my replies on my profile I’ve listed quite a few tips for lap recovery you may be interested in. Best of luck sweet! Xx
Amazing! Thank you. Wow 6th lap, you're one brave cookie. I'm absolutely shitting it fair play. I'm not even scared of needles or anything of the sort so I don't really know what the problem is! I've had a few awful dreams lately. Thank you for sharing and wish you all the best with your upcoming op xx
Just wondering, how long have you waited for your lap? I wasn’t told waiting times by my consultant and I’m in so much pain ☹️
Hi! I was referred to a Gynacologist in August. Waited until Feb for an appointment - even though I was fast tracked and then the op appears to be pencilled in for May. I am on the list where any specialist can pick me up though so not sure if that's why it's been a little quicker. I've heard some people wait for a year xx
It’s crazy how long we have to wait for these things, isn’t it! I hope all goes well for you 💜
It is! The one thing that I would say though is to keep pushing and pushing. Mine went much quicker because I was bugging the Secretary. If your experiencing pain, you need to get it looked at. Ask for your case to be expedited for that reason if you can xx
I’ll definitely see what I can do. Doubt I’ll get very far with it 🤷🏻♀️
Hey, I’m not having another lap any time soon but just wanted to say it’s nothing to worry about. I’m scared of needles and hospitals but I was completely calm on the day. After meeting with my surgeon and anaesthetist who was lovely, he put my mind at ease over the whole going to sleep situation.
He talked to me about art and sports whilst he was put the cannula in and stuff and then 5 seconds later the room went blurry and I woke up in recovery 2 hours later. Xx
Thanks lovely! I'm not even afraid of needles or the worst case scenario during the op, or pain! I'm more afraid that my heart is going to be beating at a million miles an hour as I'm falling to sleep if I'm honest. Was you panicked at all by realising you were going to sleep? I've been under before but it was many years ago and I think a recent dentist injection not taking effect, an horrendous dream and a few other things are really causing me to feel anxious and worried ! Xx
Nah I was calm every when falling asleep. I remember the nurse holding and stroking my hand and the room going blurry but I was so tired and hungry, I just wanted to sleep anyways haha.
Yeah I didn’t dream since some people claim to have dreams whilst under but I don’t remember anything.
Just tell the anaesthetist you’re worried and they will put you to ease. I read how people can wake up during surgery but he immediately told me how very rare it is and stuff xxx
That really made me laugh!!! How you were so tired and hungry and wanted to sleep anyway PMSL. I think I'm also slightly worried about waking up during the op because I've watched documentaries and that was one of the nightmares I had the other night which was so very realistic. Hopefully I have such a supportive team like you had! What was the outcome of your lap if you don't mind me asking? Obv your having another but hope its not too serious X
Yeah but don’t worry it’s very very rare that someone will wake up as the team will be monitoring you and your vitals throughout the op. They found endo and removed it but that was last July and I took a while to start treatment so I’m still having issues despite being on zoladex xx
