Hi, I'm going for my lap on Monday and wondered if anyone had any advice for the pain afterwards. I have only recently been diagnosed and been off work for a couple of weeks and was hospitalised for one week when they found a cyst and endometriosis.

Hi Jessica

Good luck for your op! After your lap they'll give you morphine at first anyway. When I went home I can't remember which painkiller I took with me, but it definitely wasn't co-codamol as I know that can give you constipation, so I wouldn't advise that xx

Thanks for your reply. I normally find the morphine constipates me. How soon were you back on your feet? I am supposed to be travelling to see my mom 3 days after. It's a 3 hour car journey do you think I would be Ok as a passenger?

I definitely wouldn't make any set plans - as everyone's recovery is different, I would just see how you feel. Apart from the post-op pain I had shoulder pain (from all the trapped air) and was constipated for a few days, which is normal post-op. I found walking around and peppermint tea helped release the air and also heat pads. are you having a diagnostic lap?

I have already been diagnosed with a 6cm cyst on my right ovary and they saw endometriosis on the scan also. I am having the cyst removed and the endometriosis removed and they are also flushing out my tubes to check for fertility problems. Xxx

Hi Hun. I'm going for my 3rd lap on Tuesday and doctors will provide you with pain relief and you will experience more discomfort from the procedure from I can remember from my previous ones however they where 10 years ago. Ask your specialist, have you had a pre op appointment because should have explain the procedure in more detailed then. good luck Hun. Xx

Hi, yes I had my pre op and she wasn't very helpful as I knew more about what they were doing then she did... I suppose it's one of those things that I will just take it as it comes. Well good luck with your op as well. I will post on here after my surgery. Xx

Also, did you come home the same day of op or did you stay over in hospital. I'm hoping to come home the same day xxx

Hi Jessica, I had my lap on Saturday so 6 days ago, and there is no way I could sit in a car for 3 hours, I'm comfortable enough while lying on sofa and ok walking around house up stairs ect, but as soon as I've been up for 10 mins plus my pains get worse, I was diagnosed with endo and was excised from behind uterus and ligament and ADENOMYOSIS too.

Good luck and we are all so different in recovering, just got to go with what your body is telling us, mine defenantly saying rest still.

I am thinking that I am not going to be able to make the trip to be honest as I have heard that I will be very uncomfortable. It's awful because I have had a couple of really good days an knowing next week I am going to be poorly is horrible but I'm sure the overall outcome should be good. I have set up a page on Facebook as there are no other pages on there to talk to others. It's called endometriosis together. So feel free to join it. It's also a closed group. Thank you for your advice though, I do really appreciate it. Coming on here has actually helped as I have been really nervous lately xxx

Hi hun. Good luck for mon. I'm having mine tues so maybe we can commiserate together? Some one told me to get some tablets for trapped wind so picking those up tomorrow in the hopes it will help. Are you having to do bowel prep to? I'm worried about this bit to be honest but I guess it will be what it will be. Hope it all goes well xxxx

Hi, I haven't been told about bowel prep?? the trapped wind tablets sound a good idea, I may have to look for them. I have just set up a page on Facebook if anyone is interested in joining. I have called it 'endometriosis together' it is a closed group. I decided to do it as there isn't any other groups that you can really talk about things. I have found it so easy to talk to others about it all. I will definitely keep in touch with you about my op and let me know how yours goes. Let me know about the bowel prep though as I'm intreeged ha ha xx
