On Wednesday last week I had my first laparoscopy surgery and whilst I was under after a lot of months of trying to convince me to get the Mirena coil, I caved and got it.
I have heard many side effects of it... however, since having it inserted 5 days ago, I have NOT bled at all, the only thing I do have is SEVERE (period type) pain mainly focused on the left side.
Has anybody experienced this?
Thank you x

I had a Mirena coil fitted nearly two years ago with very little side effects except stopping my period almost completely. Are you aware if they did anything else? A scrap or I biopsy? Have you had a follow up appointment with your surgeon. I think I would email him and explain how you are feeling see what they say. I have on numerous occasions had things not explained correctly or overlooked. No harm in asking. All the best xx
That sounds great tbh I really hope it carries on like this with no side effects just really worrying about the pain. I may email that’s a great idea. No i was only spoken to for literally about 10 seconds after my surgery and it wasn’t even by the surgeon! I haven’t even been given a date for a follow up yet....
I had my 3rd lap in August and had the mirena inserted. There have been times where I suddenly am in agonizing pain in my left pelvic area which goes around my hip to my lower back. Its crippling pain and I cant function at all. Eventually it goes away. It started again on Sunday morning and after 3 days, it doesn't seem to be going away.
To help manage the pain, I use herbal pain patches, pain meds, hot water bottles, CBD oul, and medical marijuana.
Yes that is exactly what happens with me... I'm fine one minute and then it just comes on so sudden and I can't even talk as it takes my breath away! and then as quick as it comes on, I'm absolutely fine again its bizzare...
I am hugging my hot water bottle at the moment.. thank you for your suggestions xx
My advise would be to NOT try it for more than 3 months. If it still doesn't work after 3 months, GET IT REMOVED.
here is some tips on mirenas: nzendo.org.nz/esig-ask-an-e... see last question called the use of the mirena and the 12th questions down called mirena or jaydess. this is quality information from a 'trusted' website on endo.
I totally understand your pain there, i had a mirena for 7 months, it basically hurt me soo bad all the time, I had a Dr at the time who told me to just keep trying it, it should settle in, and it made me not be able to even walk upright.....so watch out! It either suits you or it DOESN"T. Trust yourself. i now have a jaydess and have had no issues with walking, but just the odd pain with it settling in. If you can't walk normally with the mirena after 3 months, then this is a warning sign that it doesn't suit you at all....talking from my experience. Because you have to let the effects of the operation wear off, and its hard to tell the difference between 'recovering from an operation' pain and 'mirena' pain, esp if its your first operation. So you will have to give it time if you can....xoxoxx
