I had my Mirena removed on 20th Apr due to intolerable side effects.
Now having the heaviest bleeding I have ever had in my life (and I'm used to heavy periods). It's awful and if it continues like this I doubt I'll be able to go to work tomorrow due to the flooding.
I had mine taken out on Wednesday as it had moved and was sat of the bottom of my cervix. I've had heavy bleeding and the worst period pains I've had in a long time. The bleeding has finally settled down a bit today but i still have the pains.
Fingers crossed it settles down soon for you x
I think we should be given far more info about Mirena and it's side effects. Mine took me to an extremely dark place emotionally and even though I've now had it removed I still don't feel recovered from that, I think it will take time. I'm still glad I tried it, so that I've found out it's not an option for me, but it has put me through a really hard time x
You're not alone with this one! I've just had three days in hospital after my Mirena moved after my first laparoscopy. It was three months of constant bleeding when I first had it fitted back in august and now they've replaced it with ANOTHER ONE! This all followed after a couple of weeks after my lap and I felt this awful pain followed by such heavy bleeding that I had to go to hospital as I was loosing so much blood. Two internal examinations and normal and internal ultrasound later they still couldn't find it so they got me and X-ray to find it had completely moved and pierced through the wall of my uterus. They organised an emergency laparoscopy for the following day and once I was asleep and they went to operate they found it just lurking around in my vagina! They removed it and just put a new one in and woke me back up! Absolute nightmare Mirena coils are, I agree with the other comments on this, they just don't give you enough information on them. Hope you are well and can get back to work soon and don't lose too much blood!!
I'm due to have a coil on 25th of may. Can I ask how long you've had yours for? They said to me it could take 6 months to settle down. I hope it works for me but I am really sceptical about it
I had mine fitted in January for endometriosis . The first period was so painful that I had to take endone. The doctor then put me on the pill back to back and I've had spotting everyday with a bit of red blood last week accompanied by light period pain. I am worried about taking so much hormones and about stopping the pill...
