Merina Coil

Long story short aha I have pelvic pain all the time and Tuesday collapsed in the street and had pain in my pelvis they sent me to Gynecology ward and they fitted a merina coil which was painful due to my cervix wouldn’t open and they found 2 polyps (growths) on my cervix. They said I would feel unwell for a few weeks but I feel 10x worse since having it fitted just wondering if anybody has anybody has had the same situation and what I can do to help ease the pain as I can’t carry on like this for weeks.

Thanks x

I’m assuming if you have polyps they tend to remove them especially if they are causing pain... if they are the cause of pain and irregular bleeding then the coil wouldn’t really have an affect on it (I’m assuming I’m no gynae!)

I would ask for removal of those polyps because they clearly causing issues and seem to be the issue from what you’ve said...

Also I hate the Mirena so my advice would be to get it out 😂😂 I wasn’t told much about it I was given just the pro’s and no cons and ended up hating it the both times I had it in, second time I actually developed pus (sorry 🤢🤢) and the worlds most offensive smell! I didn’t really need it for contraception because of the smell and issues with it I hardly went near my husband!

I don’t like taking meds but sometimes they help but I’m terms of polyps causing your pain I don’t know what would help because I struggle to keep my pain under wraps...

So basically my response hasn’t answered your question 😂😂

Hi Nat, I will have the coil fitted soon but I can tell you I wont wait 6 minths to “adapt” to it.. The gynaecologist at the hospital told me it takes 6 weeks to work. Therefore I would only put up with this horrible pain for a coupke of months. 3 max. Do not suffer in silence. See another GP, another consultant, there are ways to get a second opinion. People dont go theough what we are. They are not omniscient either. Give it a try but listen to your body.

Hi Nat21,

I am so sorry to hear the pain you Are going through. I have the same issues here. I have so much of pelvic pain, lower back left or right leg pain that it becomes embarrassing at times when i am on the street. I scream with the sudden outburst of pain in the pelvic nerves and limp and on the verge of falling down which could have occurred or will occur if I won’t have support. So far lucky. I have merina IUD. It has helped to control my periods and feel blessed as my periods were like tap opened. But the pain has never ceased to stop. If exerting it just triggers. I hope you feel better. Sending love and hugs 🤗

Nat I have merina IUD and that really did change my life. I won’t say no pain but less pain and less interruptions in daily life. I was on bed 15 days a month now only when I am in periods or in pain of exertion that could be related to Endo. But thinking about periods blood clot weakness blackout makes me shiver. I can still take this pain.
