I have had a lap and endo was found. they also found i had a blocked tube. I have been advised to get the merina coil fitted until we're ready to start trying for a baby. we have decided to start april time next year, is it worth getting the coil? i have read a lot of different stories and it seems to take a long time to settle down so now I'm unsure it would be worth it? Also because of my blocked tube our chances of conceiving are slim so we're not sure if we should even try female contraception as a treatment for Endo, as i don't want this to slow down our chances. advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Vix04,
I sorry to hear that you are having a rough time with endo and that it is having an impact on yourself. well your on the right forum for support and help. I had the merina fitted last ear 2013 and had to get it removed after 2 1/2 months as I had constant bleeding, re-occurring infections. it was an awful experience. but then again everyone is different. what works for someone may not work for someone else. It really hard to say yes or no, from my experience I will definitely not get the coil fitted again. Hope you find a way to settle the endo and all the best for the future.
Hi, I got diagnosed with suspected endo, 3 1/2 months ago after 9 months of ruling out other illeness such as appendicitis. I had the marina coil fitted as I am only 21 after 6 weeks once all my bleeding had regulated, unfortunately for me my endo pain has returned and I don't feel it has helped me?! I'm now awaiting an ap with my gyne, for a lap to see what else we can do. I would advise you to try the coil, as it does help some people. good luck x
Hi my experience is different. I was diagnosed with endo 17 years ago. The merina took a couple of months to settle down and after that I had the best 4 years I'd had. I forgot I had endo. I did have some mood swings but who doesn't. I've just had my second one fitted 2 weeks ago. Mefenamic acid deals with the pain as things settle down and I know my quality of life will be back very soon so that is very motivating. I'm a big fan. Without it my life was very different.
I've had a great mirena experience.
Had lap in Dec 2013, endo and cysts removed. Mirena fitted at the same time.
Had 1 'normal' painful period then every one since has got better and better.
7months on and I've just had a super light period with no pain!! Also given endo diet a go, for me the surgery, diet and mirena have changed my life
Thank you for your story as well. Its good to find out its not all bad! Glad you've had such relief from it. What's the Endo diet I've not heard of this?! X
You should find it on the web. I have just started it and cut our tea, coffee, gluten, red meat and cut down on sugar and wine!! Couldn't quite give up chocolate and wine. The diet is supposed to help, if anything I have lost 5lbs in 3 weeks!! Think it's the cutting out of gluten. Hope this helps xx
