I had the mirena coil fitted 6 weeks ago while having my 5 laparoscopy and my symptoms are worse them before. Constantly bleeding, pain, trouble and pain passing water. I’ve been to out of hours, A&E and had emergency gynaecologist appointment but they have told me it can take 6-12 months for the body to get used to it. Has anyone else had the same experience? I have a follow up appointment with my surgeon in 3 weeks but don’t know if I can keep going until then.
Thank you for reading xx

Hi I had the same experience with the coil and was told it needed up to 12 months to settle in. I had to get it taken out because it was making all my symptoms much worse and I couldnt take it any longer. Ive heard some people can be sensitive to the oestrogen in it, not sure how true that is, has anyone else heard that and can confirm? X
I couldn't tolerate the progesterone in it either. They say it's 'localised' and it shouldn't affect you, but it sure does if you are sensitive to medication.
it took four months of constant bleeding and pain some time it even felt worse then the endo, i didn't think i could do it. I am glad the my gynecologist asked me to bare with her on it, and gave me a depo shot, to get me through the time frame. Her nurse was phenomenal too, i would call and just the little bit of encouragement would help.
I am almost pain free and even on my period (2-3 days now from 7-10) it is almost tolerable pain with out meds. I have my life back! Keep going it will get better!
Get it taken out. That's not normal!!! I couldn't tolerate one and it felt like my body was trying to reject it. They don't like to take them out as they are so expensive, but you can't go on as you are. Rediculous. Just insist it is removed. Just remember that you don't have to do what the consultant says if it isn't right for you. They aren't having to tolerate it. Sounds like you are in extreme pain. Go to your GP and get them to remove it. Was it a male consultatant?
