2 weeks post Lap - return to work

Morning All,

I am due back to work tomorrow and am debating whether to go or not.

I had my 3rd lap on 12th October and they ended up doing a polypectomy, cystoscopy, hysteroscopy. I has stage 3 endo rediagnosed so to speak and also pelvic congestion.

Since August I have had severe chest pain every time I bleed, be it at ovulation or when on period. I now believe I have thoracic endo although they didn't see any endo on my diagphram when doing my pelvic lap. However, I didn't see an endo expert.

I came on my period last Friday, so a week post lap, and have had bad chest pains as usual. They got so bad last night I called 111 and they sent an ambulance as they were concerned with my heart or possible DVT. Thankfully, all tests were okay although my lung xray came back as ok and I was hoping it would show a collapse or something to back up my theory.

The consultant at the hospital has said that he is going to write to my GP to start investigation into my menses chest pain as it is clearly not right.

Anyway...to my question...do I go back tomorrow or not? I feel knackered but I don't know if I am being a drama queen and I'll be okay when I get there. It almost feels I've not had a proper rest as the first week was obviously agony and this last week I have had my awful period with hospital visit last night.

I hate letting work down. What would you do in my situation? I am still in a lot of pain with my chest and endo but this is just my life and so cant really expect to be off work as this is kind of my normal :(

I would discuss this with your gp, they can asses you and advise if you need another week.

Btw each of mine was 4-6 weeks off (my main issue was driving, are you comfortable that you can do an emergency stop?). I always thought “next week I’ll be back” but slow and steady wins the race.

I have started a new job and I’m due for a lap in December. I love my job though and I really hope I can get by on two weeks only but we shall see.

Can you work from home or go back slowly?

Well I called GP and she has signed me off for further week. I have also now been referred to UCLH as apparently they have a thoracic department with their endo centre?

I don't drive but if I did I definitely wouldnt be driving with this chest pain. I have no strength that I can depend on.
