Update: 2 Months Since My Laparoscopy & Hysteroscopy

And still no change. I wasn’t hoping for a miracle but I was expecting something to ease up a little.

I had a consultation on Friday to talk about my next operation for the removal of fibroids. I learned they weren’t able to clear all the endometriosis because a large fibroid was obstructing access to the area behind my bowel. I’ve also asked him to look at abdomen on the right side up to my rib cage because pain is more intense there.

For my previous operations I have refused to have Prostap because I didn’t want complications to arise from it, I just had fear of not being able to revert back to normal. However I was told I bled a lot in the last op, this should help control the bleeding and may shrink the fibroids a little; when you’re desperate you have to try everything.

I had my last pill on Friday and the prostap injection. I’ve been bleeding since my operation so I didn’t think a period would happen with no gap between the two hormone treatments. I was wrong and I’m pinned down to my bed by my own body in excruciating pain.

My operation is due in 2 months which would give the injection some time to hopefully do what it’s suposed to do. However, because I’m losing weight rapidly, I’m unable to eat properly and make bowel moments freely, they may operate in a months time if there is no improvement.

I had no fear from with the previous laparoscopys but this will be open laparotomy myomectomy and the recovery will be tough.

Has anyone got any advice on this procedure, like how you found the recovery? I don’t care about scars, that’s not even an issue with me.

I found the picture attached yesterday and it’s very fitting.

I have only ever had keyhole surgery so I can’t advise on laparotomy recovery but from my experience of Prostap it is quite common to have an initial flare of symptoms before the medication starts to have the positive effects it should have. This initial flare may be what you are currently experiencing. Hopefully it’ll ease soon and then you’ll get the benefits of the injections. I had no side effects after the initial flare, they were a life saver to me while waiting for surgery xxx

I thought with no gap during the cross over I might avoid that but I was probably being a little naive.

I have everything crossed for positive benefits with no side effects.

Thanks for your reply :)
