Post laparotomy
Hello dear ladies, I am 5 days post my debulking surgery which went quite well. So far I have not had major issues… except bowel problems. Now they are talking about post op ileus or intestinal paralysis. Has anyone experienced this complication? What was done to treat it

Pseudomonas infection post laparotomy
Dear ladies, Has any of you had this problem post surgery? I’ve been having issues with my wound since they removed the staples 10 days post op. I’ve also had a low grade fever coming and going from the 3rd day post op. I am now 3 and a half weeks post op and I found out today I have pseudomonas aeruginosa

I have had several laparoscopies, a
laparotomy
, had one tube removed. I also have PCOS. I have been on various drugs and for what seemed ages, progesterone tablets. My GP said that I had been on them for ages and that I should come off them.

Recurrence of borderline?
Hi everyone, a year ago I had TAH-BSO by
laparotomy
and my pathology was stage 1a seromucinous borderline ovarian tumour. I felt great after the surgery and thought I was all done with this.

Total hysterectomy with oopherectomy recovery advice needed please!
What I’d like to ask, is what recovery was like for those of you who have a total hysterectomy with ovary removal that was done via
laparotomy
(large cut - mine will be from pubic bone to just under the ribs). What tips do you recommend?

Op for Frozen Pelvis (stage 5 Endo)
After Ectopics, miscarriages, so many laparoscopies I've lost count and a few
laparotomy
& finally full hysterectomy, kept the 1 remaining ovary to stop early menopause (i was only 38) 10+ years ago I'm faced with another op, the mother of all ops, it seems.

I had a major surgery about 8 months ago but the pain around my stomach hasn't gone away. My blood tests and CT scan results are normal. They mentioned that have adhesions which make me in pain all day all night, so I only rely on the pain reliefs.

post abdominal surgery and dizziness
hi guys. 10 days ago I had a
laparotomy
which is open abdominal surgery to remove a huge cyst and my left ovary/fallopian tube. The surgery went well with no complications and I was discharged 3 days later. On discharge I was very dizzy walking about for the first time which I get is normal.

Following the GynOnc appointment, I had a
laparotomy
, during which time I had my ovaries removed. I am now 3 weeks post successful surgery, and still in recovery.

TWW torture
A negative for me is very daunting (as I’m sure it is for everyone) as we don’t have any in the freezer and I could be facing another
laparotomy
, which obviously comes with a much longer recovery time than keyhole. And my clock is well and truly ticking (levels are at the lower end).

Wound Management
I posted a while ago re my
laparotomy
wound breakdown and got a lot of good advice. After minimal progress I got a PICO vacuum dressing - a lot of reluctance which may have been cost rather than clinical criteria. The difference it has made is incredible.

Endo, ovarian cysts and bowel problems
I was diagnosed with endo about 11 years ago, have had a
laparotomy
and laparoscopy in the past. I’ve had ovarian cysts removed at those times and endo tissue.

Sever hip/ back pain endo and cyst
As I had a
laparotomy
my consultant has waited for further surgery as it’s going to be more tricky due to scarring and they were waiting recovery wise internally too.

Recovery after laparotomy - return to work
Hi there,I wondered what kind of recovery it takes after
laparotomy
for endo and adenomyosis. I had the surgery a month ago now and progress initially was good and I've definitely turned a corner. But I'm tired and my stitches are still pulling if I do too much.

In what it says is world first, Hadassah medical team saves fetus’s twisted ovaries
Dan Arbel, opted for a mini-
laparotomy
, making a small incision in the baby’s abdomen. “Through this incision, he managed to get to the ovaries, untwist them, and drain the cysts,” Porat said.

Later, in my fifties had
laparotomy
for suspected of ovarian cancer. Now there lies one huge problem! Years later a caring GP when I complained of abdo pain said let's test you for coeliac. No one had ever suggested this. Bingo yes positive !!! Some improvement in my overall well being.

A reply to Wasabigirl’s post about PID (?) which has since been deleted
A sonogram generally cant see those areas (nor a laparoscopy or
laparotomy
) and pain in those areas can refer to the groin. I had an infection and was only treated with tetracycline for 5 days (many years ago). Then the terrible burning started on the lower right that responded to antibiotics.
