Nortriptyline advice

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all okay and having a low pain day. I’m just home from seeing the specialist (a very long awaited appointment) I actually came out feeling listened to and have a treatment plan in place. One thing he’s done is changed my amitriptyline to nortriptyline. I just wanted to ask if anyone has experience of it and has it helped with nerve pain. I’m worried about not having the amitriptyline as it really helps me sleep. Any comment welcome, thanks for reading 💛 xx

Hey I was first put on amatryptalyne and it didn’t help me at all, now have nortryptaline which is far better, I use it for nerve pain with my gynaecology problems and for fibromyalgia, it works for me x

I just wondered why they are changing your medication if you find that the amitriptyline helps? I would question why they want to change medication if what you are using is working xx

I did ask and he said it would be better for my nerve pain as I can take a higher dose without feeling too drowsy. If he’d just increased my amitriptyline I would be a zombie…hope that makes sense x

I found it far better than Amitriptyline- less side effects . It’s the same family so hopefully you’ll benefit in same way.

I am on nortryptyline, it should help you sleep in the same way as amitryptyline. Hope it helps you.
