Hi everyone, I hope you’re all okay and having a low pain day. I’m just home from seeing the specialist (a very long awaited appointment) I actually came out feeling listened to and have a treatment plan in place. One thing he’s done is changed my amitriptyline to nortriptyline. I just wanted to ask if anyone has experience of it and has it helped with nerve pain. I’m worried about not having the amitriptyline as it really helps me sleep. Any comment welcome, thanks for reading 💛 xx

Nortriptyline advice

Hey I was first put on amatryptalyne and it didn’t help me at all, now have nortryptaline which is far better, I use it for nerve pain with my gynaecology problems and for fibromyalgia, it works for me x
I just wondered why they are changing your medication if you find that the amitriptyline helps? I would question why they want to change medication if what you are using is working xx
I found it far better than Amitriptyline- less side effects . It’s the same family so hopefully you’ll benefit in same way.
I am on nortryptyline, it should help you sleep in the same way as amitryptyline. Hope it helps you.
Hi,
Same situation with the medication. I was taken off Amatryptaline and moved on to Nortryptaline for chronic back pain. I have degenerative disc disease. It has been wonderful. I am able to sleep at night and still be able to do my work during the day. I was put on too high a dose at first and had some lucid (see amazingly lifelike) dreams so the Dr dropped it to one tablet a night. I'm happy with this as, like I said, it allows me to work and not be zombied on too high a dose of amatryptaline. Hope this helps.
