Hello everyone,
This is my first time posting, I've actually been following the page for a number of months now, mainly just to try and learn as much as possible about all things endo to help support and care for my partner.
But I actually wanted to ask a few questions today, mainly (and hopefully) to hear some positive feedback regarding the Mirena Coil.
My partner was diagnosed with endo a few years ago and after her most recent (2nd) lap in September, she was fitted the Mirena coil as a possible preventative after a number inconsistent and unsuccessful contraceptive pills (micro and combination).
The main questions I wanted to ask were:
Has anybody here had a positive reaction to the Mirena Coil following surgery?
If so, how long did it take to settle and when did you begin to notice an improvement in symptoms?
The consultant who dealt with my girlfriends follow up appointment had suggested that it could be at least 6 months before she may feel any difference, which we were fairly aware of.
However, it seems like things have actuallly gotten worse following the operation and coil (nearly 3 months later), did anybody else find it was a case of things having to get worse before they got better?
And finally (I know I'm asking a lot), have any of you that have has success with the Mirena complimented it with anything else that may have helped? I've read a lot recently about a number of different supplements and diets that could possibly help too?
I really hope this doesn't come across as too intrusive but over the years of trying my best to support my girlfriend in her struggle with this horrible disease, I've adopted a pretty direct approach and I'm pretty much desperate to do anything at all within my power to help!
Apologies also for the long-winded post!
May I also please say, to all of you endo sufferers... you truly are all truly heroes for the struggles that you endure on a daily (if not constant) basis.
As somebody that will not ever physically be able to experience or understand your pain, it may seem trivial but I wanted to say that I admire the strength of each any every one of you!
