Sorry to share this but I'm getting really concerned with this.
Pre-lap I always suffered with my bowels, IBS, gluten intolerance and further issues after my gallbladder was removed.
Anyway post lap I had gas of course but 1 week down the line the gas pain has gone from my shoulder but by 3-4pm I'm really bloated (painfully so) and the wind smells horrendous! It's also slightly uncontrollable so I'm worried it won't resolve!
Has anyone else experienced this after their lap?
TIA x

I'd have thought it is likely also the gas, but always worth checking if you are concerned.
I remember my surgeon asking me as it was a good thing. I was bloated for several months after my op, but for me it only released very gradually and I have gotten reflux esophagitis as my esophagus sphincter eventually got weakened. It may be a good thing if it's coming out quickly...
It's early days as it's soon after your op but perhaps worth finding a qualified nutritionist and investigating dietary options and things like pro biotics to aid healing. I wish I had gone to one sooner.
I'm hoping it is just the gas but it just seems different this time.
I'm already seeing a naturopath so I've emailed her for further advice. It's really annoying because we'd made huge progress with my gut before the lap, I really hope it hasn't been undone...
Huge hugs. My gut was ok before but the bloating but I've developed GERD and esophagitis 8 weeks post op which is a nightmare. What have you been trying?
It like reading my own story. I had lap about 12 weeks ago for endo and had bad wind and stomach after...
I am also a ibs -c sufferer and gluten intolerant....
So i know ur pain.
I found that a good probiotic, digestive enzyme and peppermint oil capsule helped me.
I read somewhere people with no gallbladder need them even more as ur bile and digestive system works harder to digest and the enzyme helps break down the food.
Being gluten free helps as that hard to digest to.
Your gona b windy after lap anyway so dont worry to much it will work it way out ur body but they all may help you.
Thank you so much for your reply. Nice to hear I'm not alone even though I don't wish this on anyone.
Yeah with the GB removal it all got worse so I was already working on that with a nutritionist just felt like after my lap it's all taken a step backwards. I'm IBS-d. Hopefully this is temporary though (fingers crossed!)
I'll make sure I go full on with the digestive enzymes, probios etc. Ginger tea has helped me a little this evening.
Yep, endo found in 2 places in the pouch of douglas and 1 on the right ovary fossa.
Oh im sorry to hear about the endo aswell as if u not suffered enough.
I was lucky in that i didnt have no endo.
It more ibs i suffer with and being gluten and dairy intolerant which i didnt know at that time that why it was put down to endo.
Now ive found out ive seen a nutrionalist and i have got the eating down and the supplements have helped me sooo much i would never stop taking them it helps me digest and calms my belly....
the peppermint oil capsules really work for me coz i suffer so bad with wind.
I take the supplements twice a day , 15 mins before brekkie and then again before tea in evening. It does help and u should benefit from it even more ...
Tell me about it, I wish it would all end but at the same time I know some have it much worse so I have to be grateful.
Did you not have any gyne issues too? Did they rule out all other gastro issues?
I'm glad the nutritionist is helping. I'm hoping mime will help me get back on track...in fact I know she will.
Unfortunately I can't take peppermint as it aggrevates my hiatus hernia (yep add that to the list I really am very broken!) But maybe I can try a mild tea.
They took out the endo there and then...I just hope it was the right move!
Yeh ive had gynae issues all my life, that why i had lap but nothing was found apart from i clot to quick so im on tranexamic acid which works for me and naproxen and cocodamol ...
They think it was my ibs which was problem as they said my bowel was distended and inflammed so i take it my ibs was flareing but then i found out i was gluten and dairy intolerant so they thing my ibs was due to that.
So at mo it all about me diet and supplements but i also have pelvic floor dysfunction and the pain pretty immense which they think was brought on by the tightness and stress i held in stomach all time i was in pain so im currently seeing a p.f physio therapist which is working well.
