Hey guys!
So I had my first ever lap yesterday,
They did find endometriosis and removed as much as they could,
I'm feeling sore and suffering bad with gas pain!
Hope your not feeling too bad soon. I've got my 1st lap in 2 weeks, i'm feeling rather nervous!x
You will be fine seriously I was soo nervous! But it was over and done with quick! Just make sure you get the anti sickness and pain relief as soon as you come round after operation!
And drink plenty of peppermint tea!
You will need help at home afterwards as I'm struggling to get in and out of bed 🙈
Good luck let me know how it goes!
Xx
Thanks for the reasurrance! I drink a lot of peppermint tea anyway so will defo make sure i stock up, my partners taking some time off work so he can be at home with me for a few days!! I think i'm dreading the gas pain more than anything xxx
That's okay!
Yeah mine has been helping me up and down and to the loo just abit sore! A lot more comfortable laying down and standing and I suppose ur stomach isn't bending!
I was dreading sickness afterwards but didn't have any! The gas pain isn't too bad just like an ache in your shoulder blades I've been sucking extra strong mints and the pain seems to go straight after!
Xxx
Ohh i'll write mints on my list too!! Did they find alot of endo? Xx
Yeah! I'd take some baby wipes too, as obviously they put stuff on ur belly and sticky things over u, make sure they give u some waterproof patches for after to have a shower!
They didn't find too much it was connected to my womb and bowel and then in another place,
I've got to go back in 2weeks then in a few months!
Do they know you have endo? Or is it a diagnosis lap? Xxx
I got some baby wipes the other day actually because i'd seen somebody on here say they'd be handy to freshen yourself up with, i've treated myself to some nice comfy joggers and a hoodie too, started putting it all in a bag so its all ready. Its a diagnostic lap, but i've given consent for them to treat anything they find. I was diagnosed with a hydrosalpinx about 5 months ago, however my last scan showed that the fluid in my tube has now disapeared but it could still be blocked or damaged, so if the tube needs to be repaired they'll do it, if it needs to be removed it'll be removed, there also looking for endo as i've been suffering since my late teens and been fobbed off with having ibs, all my symptoms came back after coming off the pill when we started trying to concieve so my gp refered me back to the gynae and i've finally found one that actually listens and is willing to do something! Xxx
That's good then, I've been told I can't shower for 3 days so definitely need some freshen up wipes!!!
You get given a gown and dressing gown but then I put my pjs straight on as was comfy!!
Well fingers crossed everything is ok!
How old are you now?
I've been having pain since 2013 over the last year been in hospital for a week every other month!
They laughed at me when I said I thought it was endometriosis, the gp referred me to a gynaecologist on the NHS which date came through 8th January next year so I had to go private as needed it sorted! So angry that no one listens and it's not well known even tho 1 in 10 women have it!
Xxx
I'm 32 next month. We started trying for a baby after christmas and been in absoloute agony since, i was admitted into hospital in March and thats how they found i had a hydrosalpinx, i have time off work almost every month when i'm on my period, its just got ridiculous and completley taken over my life. Waiting lists are absoloutly unbelievable, my gynae appt ended up getting pushed up the list because of ending up in hospital which my GP said was actually a blessing because i could of been waiting months for it, so from my referal to operation date it'll have been about 6 months with the nhs, which i count myself lucky for, as i know alot of women on here have been waiting a lot longer and luckily waiting times for laps in my area was currently low, so i've definatly been very lucky!!x
Oh god!
I think that's what I'm worrying about as I am young I do want a family!
Yeah! What area are you from?
The NHS said by the time I would have seen my gynaecologist and had the lap would have been about 2 years!
Yeah very lucky! Well fingers crossed for u!
Xx
Oh my word, thats absoloutly scandalous! I'd have been going private aswell if i'd been told that.
How old are you?
When we first started trying we weren't really bothered if you no what i mean we were like it'll happen when it happens, we just both knew that, that was our next step in life, but now its all we want, when we were told i was possibly going to have my tube removed and worse case scenario was going to be ivf, our life turned upside down and we went into major meltdown. Fingers crossed that isn't going to be the case now, we are just aware that its now not going to be an easy ride unfortunatly! Xxxx
Yeah I mean I'm also self employed so was effecting my work and the pain is unbearable!
I'm 21
Yeah there are always options!
I think if I get told I can't I will feel a let down to my boyfriend as that's our next step in life now we have a house,
I'm going to start doing events and that to raise money for endometriosis uk!
They are such an amazing charity!
Xxx
Fundraising is a brilliant idea. Don't feel a let down to your boyfriend, theres alot of us going through things like this, you just don't realise until it actually affects you and its alot more common than you realise, the problem is people who arent suffering just don't understand and thats what i've found the hardest part! Xx
What was the lap like before the surgery and after. I might need one and I hate the thought of having an op
It was seriously fine, I was really nervous when I went it but the nurses were so good at reassuring me and then all I remember is coming round, I asked for anti sickness and pain relief!
Just feel abit sore like a period pain, everyone is different depends what they remove and where from!
So glad I've had it done and I know what's wrong!.
Let me know how u get on!
Hi. I had a lap 6 days ago. They removed my right ovary and Fallopian tube. I have been given 2 weeks off work but I do a physical job and I am worried I won't be able to manage. How long does it normally take to fully recover? Do you think I would be wrong to take another week?
