Hi, I had my first lap diagnosing + removing endo 2 weeks ago and am due my period soon. Just wondered other people's experiences with regards to on time and pain. Many thanks.

First period after lap

Hi,
I found my first period was really bad (I think probably because my body was still recovering and clearing itself out from the lap), but then my second one I don’t think I have ever had a period that was as easy as that one was! I had near to no pain so actually managed with just paracetamol/ibuprofen and even managed to go into work then the next day I managed to go on a long shopping trip which - before my lap I couldn’t go to work and there was no way I would be walking around shops for hours! I was told the pain will probably start coming back after about 6 months but for now I am enjoying being near enough symptom free 😊 did you struggle with your first one as well?
Glad to hear you're currently pain free! Always nice to hear success stories, long may it continue for you! Im due for my first period since first lap in a few days, dreading it a bit but hoping for easier ones following it!
My first period was horrific and much worse than my normal periods, very heavy I flooded through my trousers at work (passed a lot of clots sorry for TMI)and the pain was awful and went into my thighs which burned and throbbed, my second period was also fairly bad but I put this down to my body still healing inside. My surgery was 3 hours long.
I haven’t had a bad period since and my lap was in May 2018 and my daily symptoms almost vanished, they are starting to return now but I’m happy that I had a year with minimal pain and easy periods . Try not to be deflated if your first period is worse, nobody warned me and I started worrying that maybe the surgery had made things worse etc but really your body just takes a while to heal internally
All the best x
Thanks for your reply, I'd much rather be as prepared as possible! Nice to hear minimal symptoms for a reasonable period of time. Did your symptoms go away straight away or take a few months? I'm still having similar pains as pre-op and desperately hoping they'll fade as I heal! X
I felt exactly the same as you after my lap and I was really anxious surgery had made no difference, my only immediate relief was my left leg had lost some sensation for several months prior to surgery and after it felt normal again right away. It took a few
Months before I noticed a difference in my usual pains. I did read it can take up to 6 months for your body to fully heal internally. I also started using CBD oil which made a drastic difference too. Xx
Hi,
Hope you're recovering well from your lap a few weeks ago!
My period arrived 2 days after my most recent lap, less than a week ago. I was surprised it arrived on time as was told surgery can delay periods. Anyway - my bleeding was heavy but no worse than my heaviest endo period. I had lots of big, dark, gross clots (sorry for tmi!) but actually this isn't unusual for me either during period. The pain I had during the post-op period was mostly in the area where I'd had my surgery done (left ovary) rather than just normal cramps around my uterus so to summarise, the pain and bleeding was definitely different and lasted longer than a normal period but if you're used to pain and heavy bleeding from time to time with endo then you'll be absolutely fine, just be prepared with heavy-flow pads and pain killers x
Thank you! I'm hoping that although my Dr advised it's likely to be a bad period, itll be similar to what I've been dealing with previously! Hope you don't mind me asking the time frame between your laps? Did you continue to have similar pre-op pains after surgery? Thanks! X
Hiya, I’m sorry you all experienced bad periods- however mine came 4 days after my lap (stage 4 endo) and was lighter, shorter, and completely pain free! I was so shocked that I worked out all my dates and it was definitely my period. Try not to worry too much as it may not be as bad as you’re expecting xx
