Treatment post laparoscopy... not contraception though.

Hello,

I'm probably going to be posting on here a fair bit!

My gynaecologist suggested that I have a mirena coil fitted during my laparoscopy.

I am really cautious of contraception because I have tried so so many types and all have had negative side effects.

The last I had was the copper coil as it's non hormonal but the coil hurt me, and the bleeding was really bad along with pain.

I have tried implant, depo and numerous pills; combined and just mini pill.

I tend to just go crazy on them and very hormonal.

I have been on nothing for a year now, but also my 'endo' symptoms I think are getting worse. The pain whilst intercourse is horrid and I'm starting to not enjoy sex at all. Some times it's unbearable and sometimes it's just a total no go.

What could be my other options? Thank you for reading xx

Have you tried changing your diet? Cutting out inflammatory foods and drinks like caffeine and alcohol can make a massive difference. I'm also not on any hormonal contraception as I hate how it makes me feel (I have the copper coil though and have had no issues with it, though I know plenty of people who have). I can recommend some books if you're interested.

Not heard about diet thing... I don't drink alcohol and anything with caffeine as it is. I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle (I like to think?!)

I'll give it a google though and see!

Someone told me that I'd need surgery once a year for the rest of my life if I don't have any other treatment like contraception

Google the endo diet, there's lots of resources online. I got started with a couple of books and definitely made a difference- I'm 5 days post lap 2 and eating this way is definitely easing my pain and bloating and the gas seems to have passed a lot quicker this time. Henrietta nortons 'take control of your endometriosis' is brilliant, and for more recipes I love Jessica murnane's one part plant cx

Also, I think re needing further operations in future, it's a very individual thing and certainly not one that hormones will prevent- j think plenty of people on here would agree. I'm giving the diet and lifestyle route a go first, with hormones as a last resort

Yes I'm currently recovering from 11 surgery endo since I was 16 now 37 a looong road.....low GI diate recomendid ....as when I was 27 they tried to put me on gluguphage duabities meds ....but I was on a hormone treatment causing the suger issue.....so I put the meds on doctors desk and asked for alternative he suggested low GI and I on anti oxidant foods such I still do ...i eat pretty healthy to don't drink gym ....

The coil.....maybe someone can me understand it there is two cures for endo....get pregnant asap normally endo goes after you had a baby ....or like in my case 4 missgareges later partial hysterectomy...im still struggling with endo....the coil is a birth control divice in my mind I just cannot see the benifits forgein object in your body ....abd in surgery they removing tissue that should not be were it is...now placing a coil....please as far as the coil go I'm ignorant as my gyni never even considered it as a treatment option when I asked him about it a few years ago ? I hope sharing we find some sort of sense...Mx
